18 minutes for Matthews in game 7. Gauthier on the ice with 5 minutes left. Hyman on 1 leg playing so much in adeciding game and taking face-offfs. Marleau taking time from far better players all year.
Whaaa cry me a river. Babcock has a loaded team. Spare me the team this team is so flowed. LOL. Tampa has more talent, maybe? That's it
That GM has given Babcock a star offensive RHD in Barrie, a strong LHD in Muzzin and a franchise C in the past year. Every cocah wishes he got that.
BTW, those "Soft" players outhit Boston in the 7 game series. Are you aware? - RogerRoeper
The GM (whom i really like but like all managers have their floors) gave him a team that can't win in the playoffs.
He's pretty much given the reigns to Matthews now, in the press. Auston will have all the minutes he wants this season.
Any semblance of toughness/grit/defensive play has now gone. This is Kyle's team finally. We'll see how it does. Hopefully it goes well |

It's weird how 2 years in a row in the playoffs Kadri gets suspended, Gardiner is a COMBINED -9 in the 2 game 7s and Freddy was not strong and yet the idea is the problem with the team is "toughness"? lOL. that is so far down the list of concerns.
where did this myth come from. - RogerRoeper
Yeah Gardiner was a disaster but the fancy stats tram loved him so what can you do? |

I would obviously love for the Leafs to win the Cup. Which Leafs fan wouldn't?
I also don't think my brain is big enough to be some kind of pioneer to think the Leafs don't win the Stanley Cup as they are built.
It's unfortunate, because i can't think of too much that I'd rather happen more than the Leafs winning the Cup.
But they have to change the way they set the team up in order to do so. IMO
We can't even field a full lineup. Just think about that for a second. |

The roster isn't frozen, and the core pieces they already have are the rarest, most valuable ones. I see a lot of reasons to be super stoked. |

I actually had this year (last year of Marleau's deal) as the last year to get things figured out.
Thatal didn't involve the Muzzin trade, nor the Barrie trade. I think the Leafs pushed 18 months too early.
We'll see how it goes, but unfortunately i don't see this ending in a Cup as they jumped a tad too early. |

I’m extremely stoked for the season to start. This should be the deepest Leafs team in my lifetime. I hope Neuvirth gets and stays healthy, cause he’s really good. I think Babs will make a stand with the goat, Spezza on the wing then Robidas Is. Sandin should make it, at least for the first 10 games or whatever. I think Mikheyev isn’t getting enough attention, and that’s good.. He’ll probably be a fan favourite in a few years. They’ll go with Agostino because he’s a solid 4th liner who’s at the peak of his career. I think we’re gonna (frank)in’ crucify Barrie, lol. People loved Muzz for the first couple games, then they hated him, now he’s accepted for what he is. |

It's by far the most promising Leafs team in fifty years. And its core is young and locked in. I'm into it. |

I like the core..
But I think the core is malleable. So far it’s been smooth sailing, guys have been living up to their contracts. But there’s a whole new level of pressure this year. Willy got his ass hairs singed last year because he didn’t live up to his. This could turn fast, and Willy has the shortest leash, then Mitch, then Matthews, then probably Kap... We’re a new generation of fans, we’re starting to forget what it’s like to be bad, but I’m getting comfortable yet, cautiously optimistic. |

Matthews is guaranteed to leave for Arizona in 5 years.
Rielly is guaranteed to leave for Vancouver in 3 years.
Andersen will demand to be highest paid goalie in 2 years. He’ll walk.
Marner will never live up to the contract.
Signing Tavares was a mistake.
Nylander sucks and is a greedy person...should have traded him for Seth Jones.
If you have a great team, it’s better to trade pending UFAs than to go for it, because it will help in the future...only to repeat the process in the future...
Any optimism is not allowed if you want to be a real fan. Leafs suck. - Steven_Seagull
you forgot the 5-6 offersheets that Dermott will get this upcoming offseason...
and the CAP going down - which of course Dubas is to blame for

It was a bit of a misunderstanding.
Babcock walked into the MLSEL war room on July 1st, munching a Starbucks pumpkin scone.
Dubas asked him if he would like a turnover machine.
Babcock misunderstood and told Dubas to get it done. - Atomic Wedgie
waaiiiit a minute.
I don't think that is a TRUE Wedgie story. |

This is nonsense. There's no sign whatsoever Matthews will get all the minutes he wants. Babcock already said in camp he can expect 18/19 minutes per game again.
And how can they not win in the playoffs? Dubas has been GM for 1 feeaking year. LOL. Babcock refuses to play the best lineup. It's nuts. That's why they consideredc firing his ass. Gauthier on the ice with 5 minutes left in game 7. Jesus. |

The Leafs came within a game of defeating the Bruins, a team that finished tied for points with Calgary for 2nd overall and made it to the Finals.
The Leafs also outhit Boston - something rather shocking considering how little hitting they did during the regular season. Who's to say this new squad will be any less truculent when called upon? Who have the Leafs given up beyond Kadri (a guy who missed half the 1st round) that added necessary toughness to the team?
Also, I'm not so sure that Babs is now willing to let Auston command as many minutes as he wants but if he did... wouldn't that be a good thing?!
This team looks to be fielding an improved D and at least as much skill up front as last season. I'm trying very hard here to see how this team has suddenly turned into a ballet on ice that will get mauled come playoff time. |
