I think we all knew that Gusev was going to be a good playmaker coming in, but the guy can shoot the puck too. This guy is the real deal.

Going to be tough to pick a top 6. Based on play so far, Hischier, Hughes, Hall, Gusev, Bratt, Boqvist, Palmieri could all be fits. If they go Coleman-Zajac-Simmonds on the third line it means one of those 7 is the odd man out or playing 4th line.

Aren't they interchangeable? I really don't see the upside of either at this point.

Maybe I’m imagining it, but it seems like Bastian has been a bit quicker and more involved in the play. Could also just be that I’m rooting for him since we used a 2nd rounder on him.

I still believe in wood but agreed. Bastian doesn't seem 5 steps behind the play.

Yeah, Wood, McLeod and Zacha still around. Going to be some tough cuts.

Very odd feeling of having no forward depth to having to potentially put a quality forward on the 4th line.

McLeod is a tough call. If he had a camp like this last year he probably would have made the team, but he's trying to beat out Zacha and I don't know if we want to put him up in the press box waiting for injuries. I believe he still has a year of waiver exemption too.

Yep. McLeod and Bastian both exempt. Hayden is not. Probably gives Hayden some kind of edge for a 13th forward/4th line job.

Yeah a Wood-Zacha-Bratt line would have been our 1st or 2nd line for sure back in the Bruner/Ruutu days. Now it could very well be our 4th.

I think they're going to probably start Bratt up there since he has more experience and then try to work Boqvist in when they can.

Best movement Schneider has shown for years. That is very promising.

Pretty sure there is no way Boqvist doesn't make the roster. He's been really good so far.

Haynes likes Hayden. Not sure if because their last names use so many of the same letters or if he likes himself some grit. But trust me, with the waiver situation Hayden is the guy who’ll make it and Haynes will play him.

And we are looking at this more of a 12 forward and 6 defender lineup.
Haynes is looking at this as a 23 man roster. 2 goalies 7 defenders and 14 forwards (most likely).

Funny, no Kakko tonight for the Blueskirts. Those guys call Jack Hughes ‘pu$$y’but their boy never plays. Is his vagina still hurting from the other night? Same question for Artemi Panacotta.

you're probably right, except the coach's name is spelled Hynes, not Haynes : )

Boqvist > Coleman > Simmonds > Zacha > Wood > McLeod is how I see it.

I am not too worried about that eight now. 1-2 lines doing all the shooting. We are dressing soft D pairings also. Once we have everyone packed into the line-up I think it will even out. If it doesn't them there will be reason for concern.

Surprised to see Boqvist over Coleman and Simmonds who are quality NHLers. I mean he might be and I can see him over Zacha. Just saying you must really like what he’s shown.

I think if the devils can make a trade for a Dman and include wood in the deal than McLeod has a chance of replacing him.
- dmarsden2988

Agreed. Maltsev has looked better than Mcleod thus far, and should win the gig for 1C down in Bing. We have assets that we could shed while still being deep in the roster. Guys like Zacha/Vats/Mcleod could all be nice ingredients involved in a bigger deal. I still think Vats to the Jets makes a ton of sense from both parties if we could get a quality player (Raslovic/Appleton), or a decent draft pick. Also, I would love to see us use that remaining 8M Cap space to take on a bad contract for a quality pick. The Marleau buyout would have been ideal, but I am sure one of the cap crunched teams will cough up a 2nd in exchange for a 1 year deal that they need gone.

No need to dive into how serious his hip surgery was, but the final 20 games of the last season gave me plenty of reason to think he is finally healthy and ready for action! I am not scared of his contract one bit, especially with Blackwood being a good 2 year bridge deal candidate, which would take us to the end of Schneids. Our goal tending situation should exceed most expectations this season.
