Not saying Cozens will make the team, but this is different than what we saw last preseason. We saw Mittelstadt obviously struggling last year. Cozens is not struggling.

Maybe Mojo grabs the 2C role, or maybe he's ott/leino/berglund.

We shall see, but if Cozens keeps playing this way, they may not be able to deny him

he played great and if this is what they're getting from him, hot damn!...however, it's one game in the preseason and the NHL regular season is a completely different beast...

i'm not saying another year in junior followed by a year in roch, but i'd rather see him dominate in junior while the Sabres forge their identity...next year he can confidently walk into a positive situation in Buffalo and develop his nhl game

Reasonable.

Too reasonable

I guess it just fuels my anger at the concept of training camp/preseason, and how all GMs - this one included - talk about how jobs are up for grabs. It's utterly meaningless in situations like this.

I hope Cozens goes out there tonight and absolutely lights it up, and gives them no choice but to extend his tryout for the regular season.

i want success for him and the team as much as anybody else (if not more because I've been writing about this bullpoop for five years)...that said, the phrase "wait til next year" is not poisonous to me

You're a patient man. I disconnect my cable subscription after the season every year, and get it back right around now, usually, so I can watch again. I'm waiting at least until the roster comes out this year.

It's not me saying "zomg I'm done with this team!!!!" so much as, "if you're going to trot out the names I think you are, I'll see you next year."

I've watched enough poopty hockey the past 7 years to last a lifetime. I have no desire to watch any more of it

As much as I’ve thought Botterill has taken the right approach, and I think he’s made some excellent moves and his drafts look decent, he will lose me in about a week from now if all of - 17,6,55,21, are dressed and playing games.

I will lose all interest very quickly

Any of you guys come across the rumor that we offered Risto, Sheary, and two 1st for Laine?

This has to be the conversation JBotts and Krueger need to have with a couple of guys:

"Thanks for coming, Johnny. Well, we can't hold Stevie Weeks back any longer. You'll be first alternate, of course."

"That's...There's more to the game than speed, Scott. Experience counts."

"Which Stevie Weeks can't get till we call him up. You've been in the Saturday game years, Johnny. That's a record!"

"I can still play."

"When was the last time you scored a goal? Look, it's not fair to the Weeks boy to keep him back. And it's not fair to the Saturday game."

It's on the site https://www.nhltraderumor...ycgv2pK_7CK65yGU0WkfHOa54

They also had one with NJ:

Rumored to happen since the beginning of the off-season, Laine could finally land somewhere where he can finally play on a top line. The deal would include Pavel Zacha, two 1st round picks, Jesper Boqvist and a bad contract such as Travis Zajac's or Andy Greene's leaving for Winnipeg.

Aren't you expecting at least 3 out of 4 are playing at this point?

I'd find 1 move involving those 4 encouraging. Maybe I'm too kind giving JB a 3rd transition year.

We will see how it shakes out.

I’ll be quite annoyed if Ruostolainen goes back overseas because this team wants to keep Okposo, Girgensons and Sobotka. It would be really tough to take

I think Sobotka will be gone, but the other 3 still here. I'd love a trade, but that's looking less and less likely.

Its not rushing a prospect when he’s earned it. I get it’s preseason still. But the kid has played really well and has done nothing wrong to send him down just yet.

Tonight is another test. If he continues to play well, You keep playing him and keep him here.

- Sabretooth9

To many prospects have been rushed in the nhl he’s not ready at all yes he’s playing good but it’s preseason against scrubs some what ... and we rushed Grigorenko

Let’s be honest he’s playing like him as in he doesn’t look out of place and we need a center
