Guaranteed in a 3-3 tie he'd let in the next one. And it would be a lousy floater. Every (frank)ing time.

not a narrative, i odnt need a sports channel to tell me how to think... i get that sense from all the hockey i watch, the interviews of the team(s) i follow. ive watched everything Matthews. Personally i think Tavares is the better leader. If i was going with my intuition, like i did for that garbage captain in pacioretty, i just dont get the captain vibe from Matthews, as i didnt from Pacs. His struggles in the playoffs scoring, surely impacted by TOI being poorly managed, he took it hard. i believe if it happens again, it will be compounded if he was captain, as it did for pacs. I dont think he can take that pressure. I think Tavares has had more opportunity to be exposed to that, and i think hed be a better candidate; even during a slump, its about the team and working as a team to get out of it.

A few interviews with Matthews hes mentioned that
< I'm to good of a plyer to be in a slump>

ive never heard someone say that, taking about how good they are. It isnt bad, persay, but i think its a tell on how the guy thinks. tavares, that dude is slick and he can draw on how many international big games hes won and for all the drama in NY, he still produced. ANywya, its just my take on it. We can only wait and see.

leafs have so many good "tough situations to be in" decisions, bright future as well.

Well all indications are that Matthews is going to be made captain by, I assume, Babcock, Dubas and Shanahan, presumably with the agreement of the team including Tavares. Apparently Patrick Marleau loves him and has him over to play with his kids, so all of that bodes well for his character I think.

so if that was the case, then prove otherwise to my statement. Ive stated, based on the interviews, the gut feeling i have about a player, my opinion is what i stated.

the way i feel about matthews is kind of explained like this using our conversation as an example;

based on our back and forth, and the standoff ish type of response you gave to my far from flagrant comment/opinion; i deduce that you are probably a douche bag in real life. can i provide much fact? no. just a gut feelng based on a few back and forths. i would probably not like interacting with your type of person, no. how can i say? well from the far from cordial responces that youve provided. i completely understand what you are looking to do. belittle my opinion because i have a habs name attached my my silly HB login name. im sure you would have afforded a leaf fan a much more neutral debate.

i cant help with the matthews facts, i go based on what i see and hear b. you see it differently, cool, thats what makes soports cool. maybe the habs suck, maybe they dont. you are pretty pathetic tho. need facts for that statement? id gladly come over and inspect gather them!

cheers

I have to "prove otherwise"? I don't think that's how arguments work, my friend. You asserted a position and you need to defend said position with evidence. That's sort of how arguments work, no?

But cool beans, bro, I'm a "douche bag in real life" because I challenged your assertion that AM34 is a "me first" type of dude - even though you haven't provided anything substantial to back up your claim? C'mon!

Your "gut feelings" are suspect but I'm starting to get an impression of how you operate: emotional responses are proof positive of your position. You "feel" a certain way so that narrative must be true.

Having said that, my flippant remark that the "Habs suck" was a bit of an (failed?) attempt at an olive branch to show you that I'm not taking this "debate" too seriously.

I don't think AM34 is a "selfish" player. I think it remains to be seen if he is a Ted Lindsay (Messier?) type player who is capable of inspiring the troops to elevate their game when their backs are against the wall.

Respect your way, bro - I'm sorry if I've come across belligerent, I've tried to keep this a-personal.

Habs do suck though, amirite?

I said that because the guy made reasonable and articulate counterpoints to your assertions. He also kept it on topic. You however resorted to personal attacks and accused him of being defensive while you were the one who clearly had your panties twisted up.

You came into a Leafs form and threw out some bait. Someone took that bait and was actually pretty reasonable about it, and now you're mad? Ok.

Well Moore really stood out

Gravel stepped up physical though not sure he was good enough to put himself in there on the backend. Seemed better than Harpur though

Want to see more of Neuvirth honestly

not too many ways to come up with a positive spin on this one... doesn't really seem to have his timing back... maybe never will.... and the foot speed issue isn't helping.

not sure the -3 was necessarily much to do with MM ... Spezza didn't help.

and yes, Nylander does suck defensively
