A couple comments Garth,

1 - the Sabres Offense has been pretty offensive for the last 5 years. This season is set-up to be more of the same. Vesey replacing Pommer is a wash scoring wise. Johansson and Olo are adds...can they get another 40 goals between them? Maybe. Will Skinner pot 40 with Johansson at C...hmmm?
2 - maybe I missed it, or you are projecting neither to be ready for the opener, but where are McCabe and Montour on the roster? Can Botts trade Sandella to open a spot for Gilmour?
3 - I'll be absolutely amazed if Girgs and Larson are not on this team opening night.
4 - Tage should be sent down to Rochester to develop his power forward game, and to coach the slow release out of his game....be a beast along the walls, drive the net hard being a physical menace to opposing Dmen, and have quick hands in front of the net must be his goal
5 - Mitts should really play down as well to develop his game and develop his strength. Time to send the message that his career needs to develop at a faster rate...his single focus needs to be on hockey, not Fortnite.
6 - I'd love to see Lazar play up, but in view of #3 above, I see him being sent down.
7 - is there room for Asplund with all the old scrub vets they look like they will retain? Wouldn't he be better served playing 22 minutes a night in Roch vs riding the plastic the in Box or as the 13th F
8- have they had a heart to heart with Okposo? He should be either the 13th F or sent down.

Let's see if Jason and Krueger have balls to make tough calls.

Click bait? Not my style.

I will admit that writng on an IPhone is not the best way to operate. I will commit to proof reading.

Actually, Cliff Fletcher has had scouts in Buffalo for the two home exhibition games. Flether is looking to add veteran deoth to his bottom six. Girgensons? Larsson? Fletch had Scandella in Minnesota.

Vesey - Mittelstadt - Sheary

Lazar

Dahlin - Ristolainen
Scandella - Miller
Gilmour - Borgen

Jokiharju

At least you're on the same page as most of us with the way we think the roster should look.

Let Girgensons and Larsson go through waivers, maybe that will light a fire under their asses.

Do I see Olofsson and Mojo combining to score 40G? Hell yes. I do. Olofsson will score 20-25G himself this season. I see hime scoring 10 PPG. As for Johansson, you can count on him to score 18-20G this season.

The status of Montour and McCabe injuries will be updated soon. I'm told that McCabe will be ready for opener. Montour may be ready for Devils game. However, if he cannot play that night your 3 RD will be: Miller, Ristolainen, Jokiharju

On Zemgus and Larry, this may be the end of the road. Not anything to do with them being bad players. It would be a paradigm shift. The has been infused with high end skill with Vesey and MoJo. Why stop there? Thompson, Lazar and Asplund have passed their auditions in front of harsh critics. I go with the kids and trust Kruger and Granato to mentor them and maintain their individual excellent hockey habits

On Thompson, I was a skeptic as well. I did not like his game Jan-April. Neither did he nor the coaches for the most part. He went to Rochester with a great attitude and was a standout player in playoff loss to Marlies. I watched him dominate in those playoff games for Chris Taylor. His off season was exactly what Botterill ordered. He added muscle and iss playing now with an "FU", big man attitude. I like his development and I would like to see him posting up on defensemen while taking away the ees of the goalie. I see Tage scoring 15-20G this season.

Like you, I'm not enamored with the play of Mittelstadt. I expect more from him. His faceoff struggles are baffling to me. When he loses draws, he isn't battling like his hair is on fire to recover the puck. Johansson is your 2C until Mittelstadt can take it away from him, which is to say not today.

On Lazar, I absolutely applaud this kid's attitude and passion to perform. He is singing for his supper. He has earned an extended stay in Buffalo. He has gotten rid of the negative memories of his struggles in Ottawa and Calgary. His Sabres teammates love this kid, especially Reinhart who has known him and played with him since they were 15 year old.

If Asplund doesn't break camp with Sabres, he will be one of the first call ups

Okposo is a work in progress. His skating and play making has been noticeable in training camp. I think we will see a more offensive Okposo this season

Thanks!

Sorry Garth, I'm not buying Girgs or Larsson getting the boot, let alone both. This team is obsessed with C depth, and everyone knows what both of their roles are on defense/PK. Krueger had some nice things to say about Larry the other day. There's definitely some interesting cuts about to happen.

Cuts will be Asplund, Elie, Wilson, Girgensons/Lazar. They've suggested they may enter season with 14 F, means Thompson is in. Defense, a lot of decisions need to be made once McCabe, Montour. Pilut and eventually Bogo return.

You heard it here first!

Plus, keep in mind, these guys that are looking to supplant vets truly need to show they are heads and shoulders better. Is Lazar truly better than Girgensons? I don't think anyone can say, definitively. The edge here probably goes to Gus.

I appreciate the feedback!
Until I see management make the changes, I remain skeptical.
The one thing that sticks in my head though that gives me hope is Krueger stating that there will be some surprises
(or something akin to that)

We shall see.

Final cuts are to be determined. One thing we all can agree on is that the 2019-20 Sabres roster will be constructed with more skill and will, more cohesively than that of 2018-19 roster
