Karine Hains: Game 1: Canadiens vs Hurricanes Tonight, it was for real and the Canadiens did not disappoint...but they came up just short of a win.

Real nice game. Not the most physical and certainly no real animosity between the teams, but it was entertaining and there's not much more you can ask for.

Great game, with a few gaffes to be sure, but if we get that kind of general effort throughout the year, and sharpen up a bit, we'll be on the inside looking out. Go Habs!

Looking ahead to our next game, knowing we have some fans of the band among us, I hereby bring you the following song, with a special dedication going out to Auston "Assistant Captain Underpants" Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs:

Not to shabby. A lot of energy, good plays defensively, and some chances.

Also, DP... if you didn't see the last thread, Drouin was actually decent... Didn't get many shots on net, but was engaged and played decent overall.

If Drouin can give that type of effort on a nightly basis, a sixty-five/seventy point season is totally possible. He should have been close to that last season if he didn't fall off a cliff. At 5.5 per, it would be a bargain.

Josh Gorges 2.0

good defensively, not physical, no offense. better skater though.
only difference, Mete has the chance to play top pair while Gorges played 3rd pair.

Sounds like Caufield doesn't want to stay in Wisconsin for long

I would be ok with 53-60 points if he does not stop to play for 2 months near the end of the season.

They (him and Weber) had a rough game yesterday.

...and analysts are saying Chiarot was very good...I thought he struggled and that the game was going too fast for him. Anyway...

Fleury was solid, didn't look like it was his first NHL game. I like the kid, he's not the biggest, but he gave some good hits, and blocked a few opposing chances, made some "veteran" plays
