It was a solid start. Let’s see how they continue vs Jersey and out west though before drawing any conclusions.

At the very least they are deeper than last year and more stable in goal. Add to that a much improved coaching staff and they should be a better team. Still gotta play the games though so time will tell.

Agreed on everything. It was nice to see a Flyers team skate for a full 60 minutes for once. It's amazing to see how different they look when everyone is moving their feet and executing short passes quickly.

Even JvR looked like a whole new person when he keeps moving.

Was a very good start. Great pace to their game yesterday. They looked ready. Might a blessing in disguise to have so few games early....hopefully they can get some good practices in.

They have to get farabee back here ASAP. I like twarynski but he does not belong in a top 9 role and neither do the players on the 4th line. Not sure what’s stopping them from keeping farabee here but I’m not the cap expert. Fletcher is

Agreed. Goaltending stability can shave off a half goal or more from our team gaa. That's huge.

Also, I always forget how much we kill it at the faceoff dot. Wow. Seems small but possession is huge. Especially in 3 on 3 ot.

Don't have to be an expert. When Welinski is deemed healthy, they can waive and demote him and they'll have the cap space to call up Farabee. Current option is to place Patrick on LTIR. When Patrick is ready to play it is likely that Bunnaman will be demoted and Farabee recalled.

They needed a bottom 6 guy and Farabee is more a top 6 guy if you are utilizing his talent. Sure he can play top 9 but farabee would benefit from having lots of top line minute in the AHL as well as all situations playing. Ite also about the player and what's best for them and not just for the flyers

It's not top 6, bottom 6 anymore. You need at least 3 scoring lines in the NHL today to compete. Farabee showed real potential and might be a solid winger to add more offense to that 3rd line. I don't disagree that top minutes in the AHL might be better for his development.

I see you updated your comment, but if Schlemko WASN'T bought out, was waived and assigned to the Phantoms...what would his cap hit be?

Absolutely.....they skated and moved the puck so well, I thought it was a different team

That's why I deleted it. I forgot that Schlemko had a higher cap hit. For this season, if they hadn't bought him out, they would've had to bury him and that would've added 125K to the current cap. My mistake.

Nice win yesterday. Only way the Hawks could have won that game is if Crawford stole it. Your point about playing 60 minutes can’t be overstated. I caught myself numerous times yelling at the tv for the Hawks to actually engage a little (I obviously got nothing out of it). Admittedly, I don’t know a ton about the Flyers, but on paper, your lineup didn’t look all that imposing. When you get everyone skating and the forechecking you had it makes a world of difference.

It looks like you have a keeper in Hart. Good luck the rest of the year.

Waiving and assigning a player to the AHL saves a static amount (1m?) or is it a percentage?

I like the direction the Hawks are going with their youth, but Keith was hard to watch. Although I have learned to dislike him mostly based on his intentional swings of his stick throughout his career so that made me smile.

Nylander? Not sure why he couldn't win a job in Buffalo, but he sure looked good on the top line with some good players. That could be one giant steal for the Hawks, but on the other hand it was only one game so far.

Top line minutes in the AHL will only benefit farabee even more. Plus he will be in all situational play as well. The AHL is the best thing for his development at this time, imo. I truly believe he can handle his own on the big club but I feel Twar has earned his spot on the big club and he is doing well in his role
It's a good problem to have. I also agree with you that it's 3 scoring lines that win you games in the NHL today

Keith was bad yesterday. Pairing him with Gustafsson is a mistake, because they are both over aggressive. That said, he was pretty bad yesterday.

I’m not blind to the cheap stuff that Keith has done in the past, but I didn’t see any of that yesterday.

Nylander wasn’t bad. The goal was a really nice shot. The knock on him from the start was that he doesn’t bring it the whole game. I saw more of that yesterday. It was like he said “I scored my goal, my part is done”. Again, sloppy game overall for the Hawks. If you want a good laugh, go to our board right now. I’ve counted 7 new lineups, two trades, and Colliton will be out before Halloween. 🤣

I tend to pull for the lesser dogs. Great Players doing great things is expected. Unexpected (good) outcomes are just a little sweeter.
Raffl was demonstrating why he remains and so many have gone. The dude is a worker. His goal was an explosion of speed and skill. Perhaps he was inspired by Konecny.
Speaking of work that went unsung, Coots and G made positive potentials crop up like corn in Iowa. Between faceoffs and driving play, doing the heavy lifting was nothing for these heavyweights. Hayes is looking to have the same qualities and I hope that is the future measure of him.
Konecny when interviewed barely mentioned his teammates. Lightly disappointing. He also seems better at doing a singular attack. If he hits the net that is fine.
Hayes held comments about the obvious penalties not called FOR him.
JVR may have been messaged and his response was ok.
I want to see Morin. I think we have been very patient and the kid has put in the effort. If we are not going to bring him along, let's trade. The kid makes me sad now. I imagine he's not happy either.
I was impressed by the overall game and refuse to downgrade Hagg. I won't, gosh darn it!

twarynski is perfect for the 4th line where he will probably end up once Patrick is back and Laughton moves to the 4th line. Wouldn't surprise me to see Pitlick move to the 3rd line. I assume he started on the 4th line because he went from being hurt to playing games without any preseason action. I actually thought he did a good job. let Farabee get AHL time.

This season the number is 1.075K. The formula is minimum salary for the season (700K) plus 375K

Twarynksi in my opinion is more of a 4th line player than a 3rd line player. It remains to be seen if his offensive contributions that we saw in pre season translates to the regular season.

Does it not seem many of Lindbloms goals are of the lucky/fluky type? Hey I’ll take it as long as they go in.
