Bill, do you see AV giving Elliot his first start against his old team in CGY or playing the next night in EDM?

I hope Elliott’s first start is the last game of the yr after we’ve clinched a playoff spot

We'll see what the Flyers do in the next two games. I think that will determine the order on the b2b.

I'd like to see Hart get as many possible in October, looking ahead to November it's an absolute gauntlet with not many rest in between games.

I was thinking that too. If he plays well the next few games, let him go back to back. What insanity to come home for 1 game then off to the other side of the continent after playin in Europe.

Elliot should play the following games in November

10/2 TML
10/9 @TML
10/19 @Ott
One of 10/23 or 10/25 CAL or VAN
10/29 DET
This is only five. Elliot will probably one or two others of the 16 total for the month.

I want Hart to play all division games if possible. I would like to see him play most of the EC games.

Feels like every year the Flyers have a slow schedule out of the gate. This could be just a bias in my head, I haven't researched it but it seems like we're always only getting a game or two in the first couple weeks.

I hate waiting.

The Swedish league Sandstrom played in last season is a higher quality league than the ECHL. The signing of Berube made no sense. Lyon/Sandstrom should be the tandem in LHV with Ustimenko getting his start at Reading.

Thanks for sharing.

...and then there are the outlets who believe we'll end up with 81 pts!

Joking aside, that shocks me simply because normally the lazy narratives for our downfall revolves around goaltending issues and consensus is that Hart has solved this problem.

The time for pre-season prognostication has passed. Time to let the games play and see what happens. No reason right now to not be optimistic.

Hart has the potential to solve the problem. He is also very young and could struggle. I don't think he will but we'll see.

But I think it would be hard to use him as the reason for predicting that we'll regress. Dear lord.

I really hope that by mid season we get Patrick back in the fold. I'd like to be able to assess exactly what we have with this squad.

It's all about depth. If either Hart struggles or Elliott should have injury issues, they want to be able to call Lyon up if need be to backup. They want another veteran available for the Phantoms if that happens.

If Lyon goes down -- or, at NHL level, if Elliott goes down -- then suddenly the Berube signing makes a lot more sense. It's a depth insurance policy; no more and no less.

Re: Sandström, yes, the SHL is a better league than the ECHL that is perhaps a slight shade below AHL. However, that cuts both ways -- it also means that the play in front of the goalie isn't as good, so he'll see a higher volume of chances. As Scott Gordon said on Sept. 11, from a goalie's perspective, shots are shots and minutes are minutes.

The apparent plan for Sandström is to move him and down as needed, as his play and available AHL playing time dictate. The focus for now is on getting him as much work as possibile, whether it's with the Royals or the Phantoms.
