Reading that piece about Schultz' granddaughter was hard to stomach. Having a 6-year-old daughter of my own, who is the most amazing thing in my life, I can't even fathom the thought of having something happen to her. All of my best wishes go out to her, and I hope she is able to fight through this.

I know we all have bills to pay and things to pay for like hockey tickets and jerseys and lunches at WaWa, and I know you can't give to every charity. But even if you can spare $5 by packing a lunch tomorrow instead of going to WaWa, or to put off buying that shirt another week in order to give a sweet 9-year-old girl dealing with a horrible illness one extra reason to smile, I would implore you to do so. No one that young should ever have this happen to her.

Wow, heartbreaking. Looking through the pictures it seems like she has kept her spirit as hard as that may be. I see the one picture with her dog in it. I bet that dog knows and won't leave her side when she is near. I was fortunate to get an email from my boss today that I got a pay raise. The first month of that is going to Analise. My family and I can spare it. Can't help but get emotional over that as a Father. I can't imagine what her parents are going through.

9) Vigneault told the assembled media at the Skate Zone today that he had a good talk with 19-year-old forward Joel Farabee before the player left the team to join the American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The head coach told Farabee that he was pleased with the youngster's camp and that if he takes the right attitude to Allentown -- it's an opportunity to play in all game situations and lots of minutes on the top end of the lineup -- it won't be very long in Vigneault's estimation until Farabee is called up to the NHL.

Farabee is in the AHL due to poor cap management. It is a damn shame that a talented kid who would be an upgrade over anyone they put on the third line cant be on the roster because of financial mismanagement.

To an extent yes. As I said all summer that a team that is not going to legitimately contend should not be this tight to the cap. The question is will they contend? If they make a run at it then their cap position is fine. If they don't, then it will be a mistake. Especially if it leads to any bonus overages for next season on top of what dead money they'll already have. Luckily really the only player who has a high level of potential bonus money is Patrick. It doesn't look right now like that is going to be an issue. Potential is for about 400K with all the other players with performance bonuses in their contracts. No way of knowing what the parameters are for meeting them.

So sick of everyone screaming at the sky about a rookie who probably would make the team marginally better maybe, and that's maybe. He will be up at some point this year, please shutup already. Farabee going to the AHL is a non issue, not hurting the kid and probably not hurting the team.

They could have Farabee on the roster right now instead of Twarnyski or Bunnaman, so his demotion is not just cap related.

Eh, there's some merit to wanting him up sooner rather than later. Team didn't produce much offense this preseason and year in, year out seems to be just on the verge of taking the next step. I want to ice the best team possible and scoring depth never hurts.

Im willing to go 5 games at least then see how they are doing or what the record is before declaring this season a disaster due to cap reasons.

I get anxiety to even think about anything happening to my daughter. My heart and prayers go out to the schultz family. I can't even imagine how earth shattering that news would be. My daughter is almost 6 and is my everything.
I know this isjt hockey related but if you have a child give them a hug and a kiss. You just never know. Dont ever take that time for granted

Farabee will only benefit from time in the AHL. Could he play for the flyers? Yes, I believe he can.
But I think all situational play and top minutes in the A will be good for him. That kid is a stud

I’d still like to see Lindblom and JVR flipped on those lines.

While Lindblom is not as good of a goal scorer as JVR, he is a better all around player.

Crap I missed the first half of the Sixers game. Is it a typo or does the box score say Ben Simmons is 1 for 1 from 3?
