Karine Hains: Game 3: Canadiens vs Sabres AKA If you Play with Fire, You'll Get Burnt Everyone and their mother was saying it before the game; the Habs had to stay out of the penalty box and they didn't...

lack of cohesion, start of the season... but this is exactly why I would like them to play the last 2-3 preseason games with their full lineup!
still, 4 points out of 6 on the road to start the season, not bad. lucky, but not bad.

yeah, there's some positives for sure, but still a lot to improve. even with 4 points out of 6.

Drouin and kk had a miserable camp, but are playing very well. say hello to all the experts saying it's not a switch you turn on when the season starts.
Petry is solid, 4th line is good. energy level is as expected.
it's more the cohesion in the dzone with and without the puck which is missing. Habs cannot allow 5 goals a night and expect to win on a regular basis.

That defense is not very good either. Hope it will get better but I would not expect too much out of Weber at this point.

yeah i don't know about this... they just give up a ton of goals. they haven't held a team scoreless through a single period yet. and it's not like the goaltending has been bad.

Seeing that Petry has just about 7 seconds more than Weber in total ice time through 3 games tells me that they could slightly increase Petry's workload and decrease Weber's. Petry has shown he can be effective with top minutes when Weber was injured. Delorme was spot on this morning when he said Weber does not look comfortable out there, nagging injury maybe?

games like last night make you wish Armia had a bit of intensity to his game.

You mean more involved physically? Because I wouldn't mind seeing him play the way he did last night for the rest of the season...

He's another guy who went from invisible in the preseason to pretty damn effective.

We'll need it.

As for last night. I thought some penalties called were a stretch but in the end, the team who played best won.

Our defense is gonna need work.... aside from Chiarot-Petry.... the other combinations are having troubles.

I hope they draw Kulak-Fleury back in tomorrow.

Agreed on the defense, they're allowing way too many shots on goal. But I doubt they put Kulak-Fleury back in tonight, since Reilly and Folin didn't look so bad. It was a weird game, where both Weber and Chiarot had their brain farts but also made very good plays

It's not so much the number of shots vs the number of quality chances.

But yeah, overall we agree.

I thought Weber played overall a good game but, as you said, he had moments where he got overwhelmed by faster players.

And how will that change? The only way I see is that he has to play less minutes from now on.

He's a vet. Give it until game 20 before making snap judgements

He was not so good at the end of last season.

Nashville traded him at the right time.

You and others have to accept it. The game is getting faster while Weber is going the other way.

He will be better (let's hope so) as a 2nd pair defenseman.

Give more minutes to Petry.
