Had the privilege to be at the game, notes:

-Hart is the real deal. The one save on the 5 on 3 PK literally made me sink in my seat. Unreal.

-Didn’t even know Hughes was playing (not a knock on the guy), I expected to notice him more that’s all.

-Our PK was great. When Hayes took that face off penalty and Couts was in the box with him, I was almost certain we’d lose the lead. They proved us all wrong and the building was roaring. Felt like old times.

-towards the end of 1st Devils started to control play, but before and after we looked and played great (IMO, of course.)

-The new center ice screen is ABSURD. The more I drank the more blown away I was.

-Nolan Patrick rocked a very, very fresh suit.

Hughes is getting manhandled so far, which does not reflect whatsoever on what he'll eventually become (he's going to be a superstar). Right now, at 170 pounds and lacking experience against NHL caliber structure and checking plus routinely giving away muscle, he's struggling. He'll figure it out. However, it's a good example of why it is smart to pump the brakes on expecting too much right off the bat from teenage players. Even the best ones usually need a bit of time to figure out what will and won't work for them in the NHL. The exceptions like Lindros, Crosby and McDavid come around very rarely. And, again, Hughes is going to be an excellent player. It will just take some time.

I pinched myself. Yep...it is really happening. Flyers 2-0 after 2 and Hart with his first shutout.

If Pierre was between the benches for this one they would've had to hand out plan B to the first 7 rows after Hart's 5 on 3 save. Woman and men.

Great start, just remember the start when they play a bad game. It’s a long season, they have the team and depth to be a good consistent team

And no excuse on the bench

Ducks 3-0

Didn’t watch but Even though they didn’t score I’m happy to hear that PP1 looks different and the players are moving around. PP2 with 2 goals early in the season hopefully AV gets them out there earlier during the PP

The defense pairings seem right

They had a recent season where they looked this good ten games out of the gate or so under Hak. So yea let’s see if they can keep up the forechecking through the rough schedule

Yup, no doubt. Lindros though, was a just a freak of nature. I swear he probably could have stepped into the NHL at age 16.

Also while the goal was nice, I was more happy to see Provorov playing aggressively and well all over the ice. He looked like a top pairing guy last night.

Very satisfying last night.

I even enjoyed the Raffl-Pitlick line. Not sure Bunnaman is a fixture there but the other two seemed to be involved in either physical play or pushing the play up ice all night. At least twice I found myself noticing Pitlick was responsible for some aggressive play.

Beat me to it. Dangerous everytime they were on the ice. Disappointed in the top line so far.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t give the top line more time to work but would any of you consider JvR-Giroux-Voracek as a line short term until Patrick returns?

Hayes has not been the issue with the top line. Voracek has been

It’s no wonder that Pitlick is always injured. He plays with reckless abandon. It’s fun to watch.
