What I DON'T want to see tonight is the Hawks come out an lay an egg early, being down in a 2 or 3-0 hole. Home opener, lot of new faces on this roster, play with some urgency and get their first win at home. Good teams win at home. They need to take advantage of this long home stand! 5-3 Hawks. |

My favorite part of this write up is the very common sense statement that we do not need to be seeing Keith/Gufstasfson leading in 5 v 5 minutes.
But we may need to wait a bit more on that until de Haan is able to make his 'Hawk debut. |

I’m worried about this game... a long layoff and a frustrated opponent. It will be a good test for this group who is still coming together.
I’ll be interested to see how Strome does, tonight and all season long. Now that the honeymoon stage of his relationship with the Hawks is over how will he perform? |

The backup goalie jinx is in full effect tonight as the Sharks pummel the Hawks 6-0. Strome is on the ice for all six goals. |

If we lose, I blame the new jumbotron. The light is always going to be in Crow's eyes. |

Excellent point on Strome. He wasn't extended in the offseason and Cat was. Methinks the Hawks have a similar thought as you've expressed here. |

Bread - the Hawks owe the hockey Gods big time for giving us 3 Cups with such flawed rosters. My prediction? Pain. |

Long lay off for the Hawks - check.
Struggling opponent coming in - check.
Opponent playing their back up goalie - check.
All the earmarks of a trap game for the Hawks are there.
Hawks better learn to skate hard all the time they're (there, their) on the ice. As someone else mentioned a lot of teams are playing a relentless fore check now. |

There's an article in the Athletic this am that talks about Strome's next deal and even his agent says it's too small a sample size for either side to go off of and that there haven't been any discussions to this point. |

I’d wait until the summer to re-sign Strome, or at least closer to the end of the season. But we all know how Stan has poor timing with deals.
I would guess a three year deal would be most likely. |

Alliteration was cut short by your cute comment which correctly could have come after "keep". |

What would I like to see? How about the team defense kicking in and limiting SJS and future opponents to less than 30 shots against per game. I would rather win a boring defensive minded game 2-1 than lose an action packed game 5-4. |

Gustaffson still on the first pair - check.

I also feel this is the HAWKS 1st game of the year .Hopefully that waste of a trip oversees was a bit of a bonding time for this team ,because it was a total joke IMO . I just hate the % of gimmick games the HAWKS are forced to play ,compared to other teams .Take those Out door games and oversees trips and stick them were the sun don't shine .
Not going to fly of the handle if the HAWKS have a tough game tonight ,it does feel like a bit of a trap game . I still think they should send Dach back to Jr. and forget about him till next year .And I would rather see Boqvist here then Kookcan . |

And I'm sure he'll try and show his fellow Swedish countryman Karlsson how good he is.
Hawks' are gonna get spanked. |

What would I like to see tonight?
In a word - effort. 60 minutes of balls to the wall effort (65 minutes if necessary). |

Also, Evander Kane back from his suspension tonight. Hope someone from the Hawks put him in his place early in the game before he starts taking liberties against Hawk players.

most definately as noted in the previous thread...this type of game circumstance is usually bad news for the hawks...long layoff + a team coming in that is not playing well = hawk loss
if they don't fall behind early in this game that will be good sign

That would be a good sign. A potential bad sign usually unfolds when they peeper the backup with lots of quality chances and have nothing to show for it after two periods...or of more recent vintage the Hawks are getting shots off but mostly from the perimeter helping the backup channel his inner Patty Roy. |
