Moving this over here:
I knew I'd get some pushback for that.
He's not "useless" but you have to give to get and he's the defenseman I'd give. Unless we could trade Boychuk for a good player. - David_Volek
Well yeah, you definitely have to give to get. Just have to make sure what you're getting is worth what you're giving. I'm not trading Leddy for a 2nd line guy, even if it makes the offense incrementally better. In that scenario, I'd rather trade him for picks and prospects that they would be able to flip later (or immediately) for a better player. |

You and I are on the same page here Chief.
I want a proven scorer for Leddy. I don’t see him as a defensive liability and honestly he’s been pretty good in the D zone this year so far albeit a short sample size. He moves the puck out of the zone very well and is an incredibly good/fast skater. I think his offensive production slipped last year under Trotz’s defense first structure as it did for most if not every player on the team. Honestly I don’t see them trading Leddy but instead picks and or prospects.
In order to trade Boychuk the Islanders are going to have to put a sweetener in the deal and it won’t be for a 1st line scorer imho. |

It would depend on who the 2nd line player was. I'm not suggesting you just dump him for anything but I don't feel Leddy on his own would bring back a 1st line proven scorer. You'd have to add a sweetener. Who would that be?
I'm saying that as Dobson gets more comfortable with the NHL game, Leddy becomes more trade-able. |

I think they'll have to find a team that has a pretty bad-looking defense and/or cap situation. It depends on a lot, so it's hard to pick one "sweetener" without knowing what player we're talking about trading for.
I'd be interested in exploring something like Leddy for Trocheck. FLA's defense is absolute trash and they only have four guys under contract after this season. Maybe it doesn't work 1-for-1, but I could maybe see something there. Maybe the Islanders retain enough money to make it a swap of even cap space.
Both players have the same term left on their deal, but Trocheck's AAV is about $750k less. Maybe Florida sees him as a core guy and won't consider moving him, I don't know. |

Yeah I think we're pretty close to full-agreement on this one. I don't see any way Boychuk gets moved. The teams that would take him are probably the ones that are on his no-trade list. Maybe if Dobson excels and just flat-out takes his roster spot he agrees to a move so he can get regular minutes, but I find that hard to imagine given that his family is here. |

Devils and Jets need D as well and also the Habs.
Taylor Hall would be just what the Dr ordered in mho. |

Yeah but I have a very hard time believing the Devils would trade him in the division. I also think that the Isles would have to add significantly for that deal.
Jets are on my radar, but I just don't know what they'd trade. I absolutely love Ehlers, but I think the Isles have to add somewhat significantly in that deal as well. Or take back a sh it contract, which I'm not sure the Jets really have. Not to mention the Jets are pretty stocked on the left side, although Kulikov is on an expiring deal and probably not worth re-signing. |

I think the Devils need to get the best deal possible if he doesn’t want to sign there whether it’s with the Kings, Rags or Isles. |

I’m sure Trotz tore into them enough earlier in the week to get a response. We shall see Carolina has to lose eventually may as well be tonight. |
