Wherever there's a rookie to get a first goal or a slump to bust, the Oilers will always be there Archibald looking off McDavid on a 2-on-1 and missing the net isn't a wise plan, either.

I haven't been impressed with Archibald at all. I have really liked Patrick Russell's play when he was in the lineup.

Nice first goal for the kid. Not Eberle good, but good.

Yeah, I don't like the precedent of sitting a guy who was performing well just to dress a more veteran player. If you're gonna pull someone out, make it Granlund but alas they had to sub in Chiasson in the same game so Granny stays in to be the C (despite him being a bad C).

You should let him score a hat trick

I'll never understand how professional hockey players miss the net from 10 feet out....

Anyone else hear about this Julien Gauthier for Jesse Puljujarvi trade rumour? If this trade is available Holland should jump all over it and get this punk ass female dog Puljujarvi out of the organization.

I don’t often agree with Drew but Kassian should have just taken the shot there

Yeah, that kind of a play is just universally dumb, but I'm sure he knows that. If not, I'm sure Drai, McDavid and Tippett reminded him.

Wasn't that a rumor from the summer? Still not sure I like it, but it's better than having nothing on the team and that's what I'm convinced we'll be left with if we don't get a deal done.

Bear is looking good today but Persson has looked great! Nice to get some surprise positive performances out of a couple unexpected heroes.

Watching that PP makes me wish they would start playing Maxsimov on the left side with the Condors.....would like to see that right hand shot on the left side on the PP

We could put Bear there, but they've got a good thing going right now. No need to (frank) with it. But yeah, Maksimov and McLeod aren't gonna get the same level of opportunity Benson and Marody got last year because of how deep the Condors are. I think I was looking at their roster and they've got the equivalent of AHL first liners on three of their forward lines. Benson, Marody and Currie on line 1, Yamamoto and arguably Gambo on line 2 and Gagner on line 3. Along with a high-end D corps, they should make noise.

Exactly. What good does holding on do like we did with Yak? Then you end up with nothing.

Apparently we were sending a scout to the Carolina game to scout him last night.

Lavoie is off to a good start this season in the minors and I hear Broberg isn’t doing too bad either.....our depth might not be the greatest now but the system is deep and that will change in the coming years......I can’t even remember the last time that has been a thing

No matter what Puljujarvi achieves over there, we're not gonna get more than a 2nd at most, so if you've got a young player on the verge of playing in the NHL available, I think I go for it. I don't love Gauthier or think he's a perfect fit, but by all accounts he came in looking good and playing effective and heavy hockey through preseason and he has a history of goal-scoring.
