Carol Schram: Jacob Markstrom shines as Vancouver Canucks grind out a home win vs. Flyers It wasn't the most entertaining game, but Tanner Pearson's shootout winner and Jacob Markstrom's strong night in net gave the Vancouver Canucks their second-straight win after they defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 at Rogers Arena on Saturday night.

TY Carol.

Goldobin, playing 3rd line in Utica. KHL bound or career AHL'er?

What are your thoughts on Tanev and Markstrom. Both on contract years and expansion draft may have bearing on resigning or trade?

Good point on the expansion draft, although there's a lot of highway to travel before we get to that fork in the road.

If every game looks like Saturday, it's hard to imagine moving on from either of them. But different players should shine on different nights.

I guess it'll depend on *just* how well the season goes. If the Canucks are in a really good or really bad spot by the deadline, maybe they'll get traded. If they're on the bubble, they could up being "own rentals" whose situations will be sorted out in the offseason, like Edler was.

That's okay, get better pieces. Sven & Goldy are pretty well done. Stecher may be Hutton 2.0. Get bigger and better.

I am sort of leaning that they will keep Markstrom seeing Demko will only get about 30 games this year, if that. I also think the price has to be right. If he is looking for 7 mil I think they will move on.

Tanev would be easier to fill the role on a lesser extent with a replacement . I hope he puts up decent numbers with Hughes and stays healthy and then maybe we can recoup that first that we traded.

Comets forward group is slim pickings but maybe Hogslander PodK Madden or Lockwood ( slim chance)

I see Lind or Bailey as two players that could crack the lineup but not much else. MY opinion only.

One more good draft would really help. I really would like to see decent draft placement in each round.

No more trading draft picks no matter how well this season goes.

I agree.

I was not surprised Canucks traded the 2020 first pick. What they got for it surprised the hell out of me at the time. I am accepting it more as time passes. They needed to get up to a NHL level of talent.

I don't think they will be trading many more high picks.

Number one priority is depth. Got to be for this team. Need viable solutions to replace bodies so you’re not forced to use draft picks to stay competitive.

You’re very forgiving.

I’m not very good at forgiveness because I’m still pissed off about it. *laughing face emoji*

Trust me I still have some anger but I look at it as they have to know a lot more than I do.

Not true.

If you were a GM would you have signed LE to that contract even though they “know a lot more” than you do?

I’m guessing your answer is no.

Thanks Carol,

Light schedule at the start of the season allows for lots of practice time. Good to learn the new systems and build some chemistry.

I doubt he'll stick around the AHL for a significant chunk of his career. KHL after this season.

There would be one player right now I would sign longer than 6 years. I would sign no UFA more than 4 years. I need to see more of Hughes to say I would sign him long term.

Loui was a horrible signing but that is where it ends for me. I don't mind the Sutter or Beagle signing. Even the Gagner signing had a purpose to me.

Gudbrandson plays okay to me but if you pair him with Hutton or Pouliot what do you expect ?

How many times did people on here say Guddy looked decent with Edler?

Bailey just the new Archibald, doubt he ever gets another sniff of the NHL.

What about your boy Zac Mac?

Zac is like Archibald also. Has his moments but not consistent enough.

Bailey is just the better of a mediocre group. Lind looks like a keeper.

I'm pretty much meh on all of them. I was a ZacMac fan as well, but even if he makes it, it'll be as a 12th/13th forward, I think he's one of those dudes who struggled with consistency and teases with his potential but never reaches it.

I really hope Lind proves me wrong, would love to have a poop disturber like him on the team.
