Good job Ben.

Pulock looked better last game for sure but he doesn’t look as sharp defensively as last year. That said most the d corps and team don’t look as sharp as last year either. Maybe this win wakes the team up and give them a kick in the ass to work hard for 60 minutes. It’s what needs to be done to be successful in the NHL.

Agreed but I think the entire defense Corp has been to tentative with the puck not making quick decisions. Leddy for the most part has been the best so far of what I saw hopefully they all start getting it together. Like I said last game hopefully this was a statement game and they can build off it. Winnipeg is going to be a hungry team Thursday.

I've noticed the d losing pucks at the blueline, fanning on passes and shots but its early. One would think they are more comfortable in year two of the system but they seem a bit disjointed. Let's hope they get it together and the team as a whole starts playing a full 60 closer to last 6 last game

Totally agree Cpt. Let’s hope this game kicked them all in the ass.

Honestly I think they had a little success last season and maybe they took their hard hat mentality for granted. Hard to gain success even harder to keep it and or even harder better it.
Talent is great but every team has it to a certain extent but desire and hard work separate the good from the bad teams imho.

It's also tough to start the season with basically a long home stand. I know all the games weren't home games, but they haven't really been on a road trip to get some bonding time. That will start with the Winnipeg game.

Hey Buster, this is basically the same roster as last year so really how much bonding time do they need? I’m thinking they need to stop taking last years success to seriously and start busting their asses and playing Islanders hockey.
Just my opinion.

Perhaps blue tongues is the female equivalent of blue giggle berries?

If so, be better to your missus MDW.

Blue waffle?

Don't google it, anyone. Seriously....just don't. Doubly-no if you're at work.

Of course I had to google it, but when it came up to go to webmd I said there is no need to see and I stopped. The way I look at things they have been playing like crap for the most part, and are .500. If they just get their heads together and get back to basics , they should be fine. Could still use an upgrade in top 6 though.

With the fourth line losing a bit of its effectiveness in the early part of the season, maybe some of the lineup decisions we've been talking about fall into place if you cut from that line instead of making cuts to the top-9. I'm a big defender of the fourth line, but it's pretty clear early on that, when they were all in there, they weren't having the same impact they did last season. Maybe it's just rust or a bad stretch and they turn it around and get back to doing what they do, but so far Martin seems to be slowly losing his guaranteed spot, and Clutter post-surgery isn't looking all that much better than he did when his back was messed up, so you have to wonder if there are some longer-term impacts on his game.

If Wahlstrom has another decent showing, you could waive one of Martin or Clutter and still have more than enough capable fourth-line wing options in Kuhnhackl, Komarov, and Johnston, with Cizikas at center once he's healthy (I think Cizikas and Komarov would be an effective duo and positively irritating for other teams to deal with). Then you can keep Wahlstrom up and see what he can do.
