Lots of talk about who is getting the boot once our Hyman is healthy.

The Ottawa radio folks think its Spezza and want the Sens to claim him.

I dont have a good reason, but I dont think the Leafs drop Spezza

- senstroll

I think if it was up to babs it would be spezza. Since it’s up to Dubas I think it will be shore.

Maybe they are showcasing shore this week. Try and squeeze out a pick for him.

It is likely he will.

Marincin
Shore
Spezza

Is who I'd be forced to waive.

Good chance Babs goes with:

Marincin
Spezza
Timashov

Cause of Shore's faceoff winning abilities and PK.

But in all honesty I don't care who gets waived. I just want to see Hyman back in the lineup and get that JT line back to a top 5 line In the NHL.

Isn't is Kyle's decision?

I wonder if Leafs give Lehner a look come deadline (a good 1-2 punch between the pipes)

I agree, I think Spezza is done.

I think he's going to see the door, vet or not.

Going to pay a 2nd+ for a rental to ride the bench in the playoffs?

Or steal Anders7n's job?!

Personally, I probably go with;

Petan(doesn't need to pass waivers)
Shore(greater chance of passing through)
Marincin(been through waivers multiple times already)

I like a 4th line of Moore/Gauthier/Timashov

I'd also put some thought into waiving Ceci rather than Marincin as a salary move. What do you all think about that?

You think they'll spend all that cap space on a backup, who ideally shouldn't play a minute in the playoffs? I don't think that's a wise allocation of space they really don't have in the first place.

Seems like a great way to piss off your coach - forcing him to play a guy you like by getting rid of a guy he likes. I don't think Dubas would pull that kind of move.

depends who's available and what holes the Leafs have at the time.

IMO our only real hole is having a struggling backup that the team doesn't play well infront of or trust to get them the win.

Anderson gets hurt - kiss good bye to the season - especially if it happens come playoffs (MY OPINION)

Could they snag an incredible player at deadline and pay a pick?? (IM IN!!!)

forwards are fully set
d could use some work (defensively)
backup G is our weakness

that's how I see the Leafs.

The TSN guys were pretty sure Spezza would be waived.

I would be waiving Shore over Spezza. Shore is winning faceoffs at a 60% rate right now. Through 98 draws this year. His entire career before now he has a 50.3% faceoff rate. I wouldn't gamble on a 12 game sample to claim a guy is great on face/offs.

While he can play on the PK, he hasn't been (He's behind Marner, Kapanen, Moore and Mikheyev in F PK deployment, and Hyman will play into that mix when he returns). So what are Shore's strengths?

Spezza is definitely off to a poor start in the face off circle for us at 46.8%, but just last year he was @ 58.2%, and 55.8% the year prior.

I recognize that he not the Jason Spezza that he was, but he is still capable of contributing offensively and improving the offensive capabilities of a 4th line.

I hear ya. I do really.

I have a feeling its going to be all about how they are perceived in the locker room/other players/coaching staff and that will weigh in on their decision as well.

maybe babs is showing spezza hard love
