I like the fact the coach isn't married to 1 system like Q was, trying to get a feel for what works best for his team. To me it looks like JC is here more for development than winning.
- BetweenTheDots

It also means in the long term, changes are coming to the roster. If the Blackhawks are moving towards the Trotz like system, they’ll need to make major changes.

I get what you're saying but there's nothing wrong with playing a zone defense against a fast team and i guess some sort of man to man defense where the forward must cover the front of the net, but as i said before I have a sneaking suspicion JC is here for development

I don't think there is any illusions by the front office. They know they are top heavy and old. Keep stars around to sell tickets, Kane thanking the crowd for coming out and supporting them sounded genuine, he knows.

Yes, keep it simple: play a zone and have a defender protecting the front of the net no matter what.

And whoever is protecting the front, please be between the opponent and the net. Does no good if the opponent is between you and your goalie.

No problema.

I found this on a Flyer's blog about the slide rule and AHL: In 2014-15, a then 19-year-old Robert Hägg came over from Sweden to play his first North American pro season. Although he spent the entire year in the AHL with the Phantoms, the slide rule applied and the first year of his NHL entry-level contract did not apply until the 2015-16 season.

Conversations happen!

Still disappointed the Hawks didn't grab Boedker after JJ mentioned the Hawks needed a speedy winger to flank Toews on the left...and then as if by magic, the Hawks were talking to whoever about Boedker (don't recall or care who he was with at the time).

- HawkintheD

You can get him on the cheap now, I believe he was just a healthy scratch. Boeddker on one wing and Fortin on the other, the board wants speed, hands not required.

He really shows a great, calm persona when being interviewed. Such a difference between that and his on-ice one.

JJ's MO was always post a blog saying who he felt the Hawks needed then suddenly one of his "sources" had the Hawks chasing that exact same player. One would almost think JJ made poop up.
- paulr

Not saying JJ didn't make up a lot of his rumors (or get them from Bob), but it's also possible that he heard a rumor about x, wrote the blog saying we need x, and then wrote his next blog about hearing the Hawks were pursuing x. That way, if it happened, he could say he called it beforehand.

Kane has really matured over the years (after all he is 30 or 31 now) and has become a good spokesman for the franchise. Remember his early years... the cab ride with Madden and the off season incident in Buffslo to name 2 occasions.

I checked his other site and I think it’s safe to say the move to that site backfired. He hardly ever posts and they have no fan comments on most of their threads. He could easily get 1000 here, now nothing. Plus the site is horribly designed, it makes me wonder if a junior high kid designed the site.

Yeah, I followed him over there, but almost never visit the site. I pretty much stick with this one, and sometimes SCH.

Indeed indeed. This new guy we got is pretty legit. No endless blogs and posts about NHL 2019 trades that would never happen.

I was a lurker during the JJ days, I became a poster after reading TC. TC is a much better guy & writer.

that site is poorly designed...Period. Forget about the comment section.

I started from the days of late Tim Sassone at the daily herald and his commnent section and found my way here. I like the rolling scroll format as opposed to individual topical threads. Never really cared for JJ's commentary and his thin skin. Tyler is outstanding with his analysis and opinions.

what i find fascinating about this hawk blog is the number of posters and posts on any given thread will be more than the rest of buzz combined...why is that??

just checked number of posts

bruins: 4
preds: 6
leafs: 4
bolts: 3
Habs:11

even the blues after they won the cup had only about 100 comments the night of the clinch...

My guess is that HB fills a void for the fans that doesn’t exist in other markets.

It's obvious that the other teams' followers aren't as pessimistic, aren't as good at 2nd guessing, aren't as angry at their GM and or coach, and are unable to put together line combos or defense pairings than us Hawk fans.

That's true, but to be fair, St Louis is a cardinal town
