If Murphy comes back that'll help. If Gus is traded and Boqvist stays up i believe that makes us a better team already, Keith, deHaan and Maata, pretty solid
- BetweenTheDots

If you mean Gus and Boqvist in line up often then there you have two dmen whom can cost you games. Your defense is about as reliable as Toronto's and you better bank upon forwards helping out. No sure thing.

I get where you feel optimistic. Also - Seabrook in for either Gus or Boqvist

Just as perilous. Boqvist probably back to Rockford

I didn't get to see the st two periods. Did Boqvist look like he belonged on the ice with those talented Leaves?
- mohel

Didn't make any glaring mistakes, and is fast enough to recover when he does. Really good with the puck, not only offensively, but doesn't do dangerous things with it n his own zone.

He can replace 56 in the line up any time now. He's going to be a star.

I think the best chance to win each night goes something like this:

Keith - Murphy
DeHaan - Boquivst
Maatta - Seabrook

I’d like them to find a way to keep Boqvist when Murphy returns.

Keith, Boqvist, de Haan, and Murphy should stay. Seabrook isn’t going anywhere so Gus or Maatta would be the odd man out.

If JC is consistent im guessing Lehner will get the next start.

I don't know if they are a playoff team or not, but it's nice to see competitive hockey this season.

From Natural Stat Trick, all 60 minutes:

Corsi TOR 78 - CHI 55
Scoring Chances TOR 41 - CHI 33
High Danger SC CHI 14 - TOR 13

Looked like a game from the 80's.

You're not that far off...they said most shots in a non-OT game against Blackhawks since 1976.

Lehner has a huge bruise on his lower neck from that hit..labored breathing at bit...hope he checks out OK. He says it hit him straight on collarbone.

I'm wondering how Maatta will do when or if he moves back to his natural side.

He still needs to learn how to play defense. It takes time. He needs support from forwards. I would guess that once he gets to feel comfortable playing passable defense - whenever that is - but not real soon - only then does he become a confidant player and his offensive game may begin to blossom

LATE ADD of course he has to remain up here in the NHL Soon he will burn a year off his ELC. Would have to be protected come the expansion draft. And if Gus sits then his trade value diminishes. Recall last year his great shot responsible for many victories late in the game. His point total and late game heroic reputation is valuable for a playoff team/GM whom wants another dman to give them the edge

Thanks for the info. Scoring chances and high danger scoring chances show the closeness of the game better than SOG in this one, imo.

Fun game. Only tree art attacks.....

No entertainment value in this game for you?
- RickJ

ummm no...not with the sense that every time the leafs gain the zone they are going to score and your goalie has to do headstanding miracle saves to get a victory after a 4-1 lead after 1...

5x5 naturalstatrick

Corsi Tor 55 Chin38
Scoring chances Chi 24 Tor 22
HDSC Chi 12 Tor 4

Most Toronto SATs and SOGs were from above the circles 5x5.

Yes, probably best to have him in Rockford for the entire season. That said, they need to get Gus out of there.

And you have to wonder what things will look like in March/April with Ian Mitchell

I don't think he's bad on his off-side. But that's just one fella's opinion.

Yes, I pulled all situations. Natural Stat had similar numbers 5v5.

Seabs is still a good #5, the only thing wrong with that is his cap hit. When Seabs signed his contract, he was a very good defenseman with size, those are hard to find. Unfortunately it was too much money and too much term, not his fault by the way. In playoff hockey Seabs will be an asset. I’m sure I’ll get beat up on here with that assessment, but that’s my opinion.

He's definitely better than Gus, but from what i see he's so much more fluid and takes much better angles on his natural side.

I didn't add 7 because he's not going anywhere and to be fair to him, other than that Flyers game, he's been very solid playing along side another NHL dman.

JC is being pressed on the recent changes to his "system" during his postgame. Admitted that by letting up a bit on the reins, the top players have started to look more like themselves. Admitted there needs to be a balance between O and D. Not letting go of pushing the guys to focus on keeping pucks out of our net, keeping shots down.

I'm doing a poor job of paraphrasing was a fairly long and pointed Q&A. You can tell he's seen the press.

Hopefully, they'll post it on BHTV.

There has to be a give and take. If the top players want more freedom then games like this can’t happen. They have to show responsibility in their own zone. Almost 60 shots on net, completely unacceptable.

i would like to know how long lehner can continue posting .940 save% facing 35 plus shots a game...that is insane and not sustainable...

with out him and craw this team is burried dead last...

leafs thoroughly whipped their ass in the dzone tonight...just like the preds and just like other top teams will do...oh and here come the knights and preds on the road...

over under in combined sog against in these two games...i will say 80 and go with the over

My comments were not meant or directed at you, was meant for the board. Too much Seabrook bashing and he is still a capable NHL Dman, at this stage of his career he just needs to play with another NHL Dman.

Yea but if a player skates in the zone and shoots the puck on net veered outside by the dman without trying to set up a play or net front presence, 99% don't go in the back of the net.

Didn't get to watch tonight, but from the looks of it, looks like the team did their best to blow it?

Lehner for Vezina.
