Pens split up the PP.
1 - Sid, Jake, Galch, Bjugs and Riikola
2 - Geno, McCann, Kahun, Schultz and Petts.
I brought up Bjugs playing that right hash the other day and I was surprised he wasn't given more time there. I'd like to see what he can do. |

DeFabo: Interesting power play looks at practice. Sullivan has split up Malkin and Crosby, at least initially. Perhaps this can crack the 0-for-'I lost count' slump.
One unit: Crosby, Galchenyuk, Guentzel, Bjugstad, Riikola
The other: Malkin, Pettersson, Schultz, Kahun, McCann - Tojo.
I actually like these. McCann can take the draws. #KahunDownLow can maybe become a thing but having the entire Crosby line as PP1 I think makes sense. If they draw the penalty then the other unit can get the first fresh crack
Malkin has been fumbling it on the PP and it takes time away from the rest of our all star unit. He’s also an absolute stud at times. Sullivan has had the guys come off at or close to a minute too so I think there’s enough reasons to give it a whirl |

I agree that he’s got a good shot there but I’m not sure he’s got the best decision making for that spot. He can also get to the net for another big presence which is where I think he ends up ultimately. I think Bjug or Rust ends up in front, or at least I think they should. Maybe he pops out and Sid can feed him 1Ts like Backstrom does to Oshie |

I think their top 3 are all studs and Brodin is a solid 4th. - Tojo.
Absolutely agree. Suter is aging but he’s still useful and those other D are solid, especially Dumba he’s unreal. The team is starting to put up offense too but they’ve struggled to keep pucks out
Raanta is on the market. That team dynamic could change overnight if he was added. Certainly doesn’t make them cup contenders, but it makes them competitive |

I think Jake goes net front, Sid and Bjugs run the half walls, Galch goes point to rover, and Riikola runs the top. I like it a lot. I also really like Riikola on the power play. And with Letang out week to week he will get an extended look. |

It is, but also having this early is pretty good for depth evaluation. Riikola now gets some extended playing time, so we get to see what he is all about the next few weeks. |

im not overly worried about it with the way the guys played last night. i though Rikola was our best dman most the game. but they all looked pretty solid.
pretty encouraging dominating a team that had won their previous 10. obviously the score wasnt indicative of how the game really went.

And what happens when the Caps and Flyers run Jarry, we ride DeSmith to our next cup? Maybe we do trade MM (doubt it) but I doubt it’s this season |

Splitting the PP has never once been a good idea. Luckily it rarely ever lasts past two games and is usually just a message.
I don’t know how I feel about the Mighty Ducks being the villains in the series. |

PP’s sometimes just go cold. They don’t look bad at there lost of the time. Just need to maybe shoot a little more. |

What would it take for you guys to trade MM?
If someone offered up a Parayko or Hamilton I’d take a chance with Jarry and DeSmith.
And no this is not realistic I know Stl. Has Binnington and Carolina wouldn’t trade that kind of caliber in division even if they feel they needed a goalie. Just curious what you would actually consider a trade for him in relation to what you think pitt needs. |

I'd love to see the Pens get an impact RW, but I'm with Tojo on trying to add D. It's hard to count on Letang. |

Taylor Hall is a UFA this summer. Why would we trade an RFA goalie with 2 cups for a potential rental when we can just try to sign him in the off-season lol |

Another solid effort and this time they got the reward. With so many injuries and Sid and Jake struggling, it’s nice to see the contribution from the others. This bodes well for the season. Can never have enough depth/nhl caliber players. That’s why I wouldn’t trade MM. Jarry shows well but doubt he is ready to start 60 games. |

The Pens just cleared out a dman because there was a logjam. Adding one only causes issues when Letang returns. JJ is clearly not getting moved this year. |

Well there would be stipulations ofcourse, a sign and trade or a 1st if Hall doesn’t sign.
But to answer your overall question, I think Jarry is a better goalie than MM and I don’t want to pay the price that MM is going to expect and JR will probably give him. |
