We have one top end forward, most teams in our division have 2-3. That’s the problem. Sam and Skinner are good players, would be top 6 on most teams but “top end” they are not.
- Swedish_Jesus

Skinner got 40 goals last season

on pace for 40 goals this season, after being moved to the second line to spread out scoring

https://www.quanthockey.c...easons-players-stats.html
8th in the ENTIRE NHL for even strength goals over the last 3 seasons

so what is top end?

because if being a top 8 goal scorer is not top end, there is not 3 teams in the entire NHL with 2 top end players up front

Let’s all hope the Lightning have the same team bonding experience as the Senators did on their trip to Sweden a few years ago.

Too soon?

I'm very interested to see how the team looks today.

It's going to be a very tough game.

"And, in another nod to the team realizing the importance of the moment, it looks as if Ullmark will get the start in front of family and friends in his homeland. "We're in Sweden, good place for him (Ullmark) to kick off our weekend," said Krueger to the gathered media. "Nothing complex there."

Housley would have started Hutton and scratched Olofsson %100

At least a split is a must or else the free falling will gain momentum.

I said earlier, 2 points should be the goal.

3 points is great.

4 is gravy.

Good times

So if Ullmark gets a shutout or lets in 1, does he go again tomorrow? He should imo

He should start unless he completely falls apart.

Hutton would understand, I'm sure.

New names to add to the rumors and trade proposals.
From Spector's page:

NBC Sports NHL analyst Pierre McGuire told TSN radio Ottawa not to be surprised if Yzerman attempts to shop 2018 first-round pick Filip Zadina. McGuire was critical of the young winger’s play without the puck.

Zadina was drafted by former Wings GM Ken Holland. McGuire thinks it’s fair to say he shouldn’t have been selected as high as he was (sixth overall) in that draft.

SPECTOR’S NOTE:
If Athanasiou doesn’t pick up his play I can see Yzerman fielding trade offers later in the season. Playing for a deeper club could help the speedy forward regain his spark. I agree with McGuire it wouldn’t be surprising if Zadina was moved. It’s not a certainty but Yzerman could gauge his trade value.

And...

Ian Mendes reports Jean-Gabriel Pageau said he’s had no contract extension discussion lately with the Ottawa Senators. The 26-year-old center is off to the best statistical start of his NHL career... If he doesn’t fit into the rebuilding Senators plans he could be shopped at the trade deadline.

SPECTOR’S NOTE:
Considering the Senators’ current rebuild, they could be unwilling to pony up big bucks for their pending UFA stars. Don’t be surprised if he’s playing elsewhere by the Feb. 24 trade deadline.

MY NOTES:
Zadina is just 19 y/o and still adjusting to the North American game. If you could get him for a prospect and a pick I think you do it. Not sure what it would realistically cost though. Do we have a 'not a Botts' guy to trade for a 'not an Yzerman' guy?

On Pageau I think he could help by slotting in at 2C and moving Mojo to the wing or at 3C and either move Mitts to 2C or to the wing. Last year on his deal at $3m. Would have to send salary back, perhaps Vesey, Gilmour and a 4th? Too much? Maybe Sobotka, a 2nd and a 5th?

That's utter insanity to me.

But yes, Borgen is not a Botts guy. Borgen and a pick or 2? Take a chance on a high draft pick every time

No, I dont think you give up a 1st for a prospect. I would say Borgen and a 3rd, but we dont have one for 2 years. Borgen and a 2nd for Zadina and a 3rd maybe?

To be technical my original post said “most of the teams in the division” which I guess is also wrong. My statement should of said the teams in the Atlantic that matter for the most part have those top end forwards.

You can write me a 500 page Masters thesis and it won’t change my mind about Skinner not being “top end”. In my world Huberdeau isn’t top end either but he is a great player.

Toronto- Tavares, Matthews, Marner
Tampa- Point, Kucherov, Stammer
Florida- Barkov
Buffalo-Eichel
Detroit- Larkin (fringe)

Ottawa and Detroit are in the process of tanking for their top end forward.
- Swedish_Jesus

I respect your opinion on skinner.

And Boston, Tampa and Toronto have top end forwards.

If we took svec instead of dahlin, I think were close.

Eichel, svev, and skinner.
Close, but your probably right. Not there yet.

Cozens hopefully maybe even mitts
