The only real "skill" guys who are slighter who don't need to hit as much are Brock and Petey – even though Petey does. Everyone else in the lineup should be using their weight. Bo, Pearson, JV, Leivo are all bigger bodies who should play a bit heavier. - NewYorkNuck look 10 posts up |

I don't think we'll be able to count on Ferland too much, but with Roussel and maybe another piece along the way they'll figure it out at some point. Miller the new guy leading by example. I wish Bo had more of a nasty streak. - VanHockeyGuy
Give Ferland as much time as he needs to sort his head out. Petey and his skinny frame has shown it's not too hard if you are willing.
Brock's the worst, goes in there and you think he should hit the guy instead wraps his arm around him and with one hand on the stick, pokes at the puck. |

That's what we're talking about, it's not in their makeup though. |

Can teach that into them. Not expecting them to run around, but can set them up for a few more hits a game. I felt in the first few games they were doing that much more, causing a lot more offensive zone turnovers. |

I don't think so. If this team has playoff aspirations, they have some fine tuning to do. |

No....I saw the system used before and it's clear to me the players aren't playing the system now. Very clear.
Constantly out of position. No organized play now - SMBDragon
Yep you talked about defensive lapses a few threads back. Old Habits and Markstrom as well. Getting away from his coaching. They'll get out of it but it takes time. |

Did you not see the penalty call on Beagle last night?
Canucks will make the playoffs by a single point, get knocked out first round. TB drafting 16th and the 15th place team will win the draft lottery.

lol maybe next year. Here's the difference:
Canucks - 'We have a great chance to take the division lead vs a very bad Black Hawks team'...blown out.
Oilers - 'NJ is in town so we will blow them out to maintain the division lead'.

5 out next 7 games vs the central division. Big heavy teams. Sink or swim.

What does it take? Two worse contracts? |

I think sending Loui down is a mistake. Canucks send him to Utica and save a mil in cap space and replace him with a 600 K forward that won't make a difference. Keep Loui in the press box and when you are ready to bring in Tryamkin or someone else Loui goes on LTIR freeing up 6 mil.
Motte does bring energy to the fourth line and you can see it missing.
Keep Jake with Bo and stop playing him like a yoyo. Add Roussel to Bo's line .
Sven should be sent to Utica at least he is useful there. |

We'd have to take back two bad contracts if moving them? |

Agree with all, except with Sven. Would like to play him until Roussel is back, hopefully to up his trade value, then get something in return if you can. If he's not going to be a useful call up player, may as well get a pick. One game is hard to judge him on, give him a couple more to see if that plan can pan out. |

Burkie brought up a very interesting comment 2 days ago. Who the hell are going to trade for these players you want to move. There are only 8 teams that can afford his 3.3 mil cap hit. Most of those teams are bottom feeders and have a full roster of Svens. Pretty much the same reason as Brodie in CGY most teams can't afford them or don't want them.
Sven is pretty well assigned to Canucks or Comets and he is more useful there. We have many third liners as someone else pointed out earlier. |

Hawks game wasn't a blowout, it was 2 to1 with less than 10 minutes left, the oilers will crumble yet its still early. |

Tippet hockey works for awhile, he is an old school coach. Why wasn't he hired before the coilers hired him? |

There are many 3rd liners in the league, just hope when you are going for a cup those 3rd liners are having their best season ever. |

Yup . My point is not many teams will be inquiring about Sven. Possible buyout candidate next year. |

I wonder if it's a silent protest of LE getting ice time over better players. I dont know how likely that is but it did start at that time. |

So you think Canucks intentionally threw a chance at first place in solidarity of Loui getting the call over Sven.
Not one of your best takes big fella |
