Wasn't the last conference final in 2014 for Montreal? (Thanks Krieder--I was at that game).

I grew up in the glory days of the 70s ("the parade will be along the usual route", the mayor would say) but have long made my peace with the idea of such dynasties being long gone.

I am glad to see speed return as a priority, as well as happy to see an objective assessment of the Habs (good and bad) by a Philly writer. As a Habs fan, I'm obliged to hate three teams--the Bruins, the Leafs, and the Flyers. But I always look forward to Habs-Flyers playoff series. Here's hoping the next one isn't too far into the future.

Great read, Jay!

It is kind of sad though. The references you entertainingly make throughout your piece will be lost on a majority of the HB community. Tradition, values, and history aren’t that important to a large majority of younger fans. It’s a rather sad “sign of the times”.

His blogs are just a perfect blend of history, satire and knowledge of the game. So refreshing. Every time I read one of his bogs, when finished I say that's why he's in the Hall of Fame.

I agree. This was good stuff.

I will say that despite never delivering for the Flyers, I was heavily entertained by Bryzgalov’s cosmic personality.

Aside from a few fact checks that are missed (24 cups not 23, Drouin trade looking bad? I wouldn't say so, Habs went to the conference final in 2014) I really enjoyed the blog. It was witty and funny. Well done.
