8:00 am: I made a snowman.

8:10 - A feminist passed by and asked me why I didn't make a snow woman.

8:15 - So, I made a snow woman.

8:17 - My feminist neighbor complained about the snow woman's voluptuous chest saying it objectified snow women everywhere.

8:20 - The gay couple living nearby threw a hissy fit and moaned it could have been two snow men instead.

8:22 - The transgender man..woman...person asked why I didn't just make one snow person with detachable parts.

8:25 - The vegans at the end of the lane complained about the carrot nose, as veggies are food and not to decorate snow figures with.

8:28 - I was being called a racist because the snow couple is white.

8:31 - The Muslim gent across the road demanded the snow woman wear a burqa.

8:40 - The police arrived saying someone had been offended

8:42 - The feminist neighbor complained again that the broomstick of the snow woman needed to be removed because it depicted women in a domestic role.

8:43 - The council equality officer arrived and threatened me with eviction.

8:45 - TV news crew from CBC showed up. I was asked if I know the difference between snowmen and snow-women. I replied "Snowballs" and am now called a sexist.

9:00 - I was on the news as a suspected terrorist, racist, homophobe sensibility offender, bent on stirring up trouble during difficult weather.

9:10 - I was asked if I have any accomplices. My children were taken by social services.

9:29 - Far left protesters offended by everything marched down the street demanding for me to be beheaded.

Moral: There is no moral to this story. It is what we have become.

Satirical (mocking) - what our society has become....in a humorous way.

What ever happened to freedom of speech? One can hardly talk with out someone twisting your words into something you didn’t mean or say. I come from a military family and believe those that fought and gave all deserve the respect of remembrance for their service. I remember when PC started and it’s getting worse as time goes on. Where will the line be drawn? Jeffery Epstein didn’t kill himself

I hate posts like these because they show a clear lack of understanding what free speech is about. It's about government, and not a private employer interfering with an individual's free speech right. You have very limited free speech rights in the workplace and are on your employer's dime. So you adhere to their rules of conduct or you don't work there. Simple as that. This has nothing to do with PC. And you coming from a military family, it's sad that you don't have a better understanding of our Constitution. Please study, cherish, support and defend it.

I stopped listening to him years ago.. The Archie Bunker act wore thin on me long ago..

At the same time, though, the fact that this topic led to 20 pages of posts in less than 24 hours kind of proves how significant he still is to Canadian sports television, doesn't it?

Give me a break. It would be pretty weird if we didn't cover this, and besides the point when you attack someone or condemn them for racism or xenophobia you are not attacking or condemning someone with a "different opinion than you are" you are condemning something that is wrong.

If you can't see the difference, you shouldn't be talking at all.

I'd also like to point out that you clearly do not know what post-modernism is, nor do you know what Marxism is. You can't just use big phrases to make it seem like you made a smart post.

And finally, if being anti-racism creates an intolerant environment for people who have different beliefs, then good. That's what we're going for - at least I hope it is.

You are a good hockey writer stick to hockey. You injected race into this conversation based upon your preconceived interpretation of political correctness and rhetoric. Don't blame you, it's how you've been raised, and what you've been conditioned to say. Political Correctness was first coined by Stalin as a way in forcing speech while simultaneously weeding out detractors where they would be ostracized, persecuted and imprisoned. By labeling my comments racist is an attempt to fit me into your preconceived stereotypes designed to minimize my comments (step one ostracize). You say the comments are intolerant and you belittle my intelligence (step two persecute). If you had the authority, based upon your pedestrian approach, you would imprison those who disagree with you. Having lived in Belgrade, Middle East, South East Asia and North Africa and having experienced multiple forms of oppression of thought.....I don't need some hockey writer to tell me if I'm smart or not.

my biggest issue with this piece is you point to the U.S. as intolerant of Immigrants. the United States embraces immigrants. We have averaged well over 1 million LEGAL immigrants entering the United States for 10 years. (Canada is less than 300k). It's the Illegal immigration that is the issue in this country. Our southern boarder brings thousands of illegal immigrants. It also brings gangs, drugs, human trafficking, and crime.

don't confuse Immigration with Illegal immigration.

- niteislander

You Sir are correct. Don't come over here illegally and try to change things to be like what you just left. If that is what you want then stay put. I see and mingle with illegals every time I set foot out my door. I have no choice because I am not physically or have the means to get the hell out of Dodge so to speak. I hope Don has a good laugh at the politically correct (put in whatever you want to call them).

So, don Cherry is gone. He probably should have been, years ago. I say that because he was a relic, and out of touch. both with hockey, and with the world. Politics aside, he provided no entertainment value anymore, and was not really worth listening to. he hasn't been worth listening to for years.

Everyone has said their piece, life will move on. He'll probably be forgotten pretty quickly. So let's get back to hockey. All in favour say "Aye". All those not in favour, say "eye", or "I".

Good riddance to this racist pig from a forgone era ... way way overdue.
This moron NEVER WON ANYTHING, all he ever had was a big mouth and a clueless brain to drive it.

It was so much fun eliminating his Bruins team repeatedly in the '70's ... they would try to out goon us while we filled their net continuously (and won Cups). You just can't fix STUPID.

Hey Don! ...

I’ll offer this perspective. If something someone says hints at being offensive, it might be offensive. Let’s talk about freedom of speech; as free as anyone is to speak offensively, we are free to be offended. And this is completely exclusive of other events. It doesn’t matter what judgement was passed on our Prime Minister who apologized for his actions and was re-elected. Don, btw, was not apologetic. This is not political. This is straightforward, and a case of someone who has been generally offensive for sometime, finally being called on his offensive behavior. I wish all the commentators thus far would come forward and tell us whether Xenophobic behavior amongst their employers, family or friends would be deemed acceptable. Again, let’s try to ignore other precedents.

Only in Canada do we hold a sports commentator more accountable than our own Prime Minister.
