Bill

The flyers schedule, I assume every team will go through what the flyers are going through? It seems they are not home for long and they have 3 in 4 on the regular. Maybe game 1 being out of the country just makes it feel like it very unusual scheduling for a team

Game 18 and CSN philly is defending the Hayes signing. I wonder who made them write that article?

This will be a huge test for the team. They've been playing well against quality opponents lately, but this is by far the toughest. Would love to see the team, and Hart specifically, take this one.

They don’t have to win. But the process needs to continue. The great neutral zone presence. The wave of rotating lines forechecking. Just want to see them play toe to toe with the best teams.

Feel like it’s been forever since they played a bad team. Last jersey game?

Not many outright bad teams in the league, but you're right. 5 out of 6 pts vs Leafs x2 and Boston with two on the road is solid.

I want them to keep up the effort tonight. If we get a good start from Hart, no reason we can't get it to OT and get a pt which I'm fine with.

The Flyers aren't getting enough from pretty much all of their high paid veterans. Not just Hayes. That includes Giroux, Voracek and also vanRiemsdyk. Hayes has 3 points on the season in 5 on 5 play. One more than that offensive juggernaut, Tyler Pitlick who has played 4 less game I believe. Time for the excuses to go away.

A real goalie and right handed shooting defensemen. Who woulda thunk it?

Still not more outlandish than the Flyers having both their starting and backup goalies be from Russia.

I wonder how long it will take them to find his old modeling photos. Could be a hit in San Francisco actually.

I find it hard to believe that Comcast doesn’t “push” topics. Look at the announcers after being caught on a hot mic complaining about Jake last year. They hardly, if ever, criticize players now

A Comcast executive demanded a change last season, partly due to economic reasons. Why wouldn’t they place their thumbs on the scale to push out stories that are favorable? If CSN is writing article, doesn’t that say people are grumbling about Hayes production, and are getting louder?

So you're saying the article was inaccurate and full of false narratives?

I think Hayes will be fine. Like most players playing on a new team it takes time to adjust and get comfortable. If he is still struggling after the all star break then be concerned. As long as he isnt a liability out there im willing to be patient. Its not is fault the flyers overpaid him.

I don’t know where the high expectations for Hayes came from. The undeserved contract?

The fact they let Barkann run the in studio crew for years after all the poop he's said about the team kind of makes it a moot point imo.

OV should reach and surpass the 700 goal mark for his career this season. He's 34. Does he ever reach #99's 894 goals?

I used to think he would, but he's running out of road here and still would need some 50 goal seasons I think to do it.

I didn't understand the whole Hayes thing from the beginning. Was giving up a 5th round pick to get the rights to Hayes pre free agency worth it knowing you would need to overpay to sign him anyway?

While he's being paid as a 60 pt second line centre, if the team is winning through a better PK and solid 5 on 5 play, I am not going to complain. Obviously, we had to overpay to get him to come here.

Could you imagine if we hadn't been aggressive in this way, knowing that Patrick's status was uncertain, and then completely whiffed on getting a UFA centre with his size etc? Or had to overpay in a trade with young player/picks prospects to get a player of his ilk? My God, we'd be losing it on Fletch for not executing his mandate to be aggressive and addressing an obvious need/mortgaging the future.

If we keep up this solid play of late, you won't hear me complain about what he makes. My biggest issue with hayes is that he's a (frank)ing Patriots fan.. I almost barfed when he said that in an interview..

My feeling on this, is that they wouldn't have gotten him at all if he had gone UFA. I get a feeling that Philly was not his first choice destination, and maybe Fletch felt Hayes would get as much UFA. As I said in another post, had we completely whiffed on UFA or overpaid in picks or young players to get a 2C, it would be a bigger issue IMO.
