I can't speak for fans of other teams, but as a Habs fan I would be FURIOUS if we gave up anything for this lazy selfish player at this point of his career. |

Idk how the Kings didn't see that this would be the eventual outcome when they signed him to that ridiculous contract last offseason. Made no sense from the get go. It's actually more surprising that he hasn't been more of a problem himself.
Caps would be an interesting team, but they're already strapped for cash with both Backstrom and Holtby as FA at the end of the year.
Wonder if Pittsburgh would be a fit if the Kings were willing to take Jack Johnson back. Might make some sense |

Speaking as someone whose last name ends with a vowel. I'd rather lose without him. Than win with him. |

The guy has an NMC, so I don't know if there's much they can do, short of IK approving a trade to a contender, though I suspect he also might want to play somewhere warm. Could be a Jeff Carter 2.0 situation. |

And to think how much crap Kings fans liked to dish out when I said signing him was a step backward and they needed to get younger and faster and he was not going to help. Course also took crap sayin Dion was gonna be the pylon he was too. Gee like none of us really knew and saw this comin there!
He's done, hang em up, move on. Contending teams won't have a spot for a selfish one dimensional player who can't keep up and produce really for, which was all he was ever really good at before, scoring. |

I can see somebody sending an unwanted 4M isssh contract along with a 5th rounder to take the chance |

I like Pittsburgh for him. They're all about winning now until Crosby is done, so why not? If LA retains half the salary and takes JJ back, probably costs a 1st right? Kovy might work out on their pp if he can still snipe.
Pretty funny how a guy like Panarin enters the league on a rookie contract, no leverage and tears it up. Guy leaves the league for 5 years and comes back at 32 and somehow has enough pull to get himself a NMC. Bizzar |

Well,
And this is not to say that there aren't any rumors, or that there aren't any about Kovalchuck, but rumors about him seem to be pretty flimsy. They dry up as fast as they surface. It is like people float them to see how the possible deal would be reacted too and then moving along.
All that said, I could see for Kovalchuck the appeal of going to Washington or Tampa Bay (or Florida to a lesser degree). I think wherever he were to go would have to have the right kind of strength in the locker room and the right kind of coach. In the right environment, I think he can still contribute. The problem is that he does so little to create the environment he needs to thrive and if it for any reason alters...he goes off.
I think that the Capitals, are the most likely but also least. |

As you saw from this draft, finishing dead last doesn't guarantee you anything. The 2 last place teams ended up drafting 4th and 5th. The NHL will likely give it to another team like one of the NY/NJ teams again. |
