Panarin is tied for 13th in the NHL in points, has played 2-4 less game than most ahead of him and his linemates are Strome and franking Jesper Fast
And people still want him gone

I love Quickie for what he brings to this team (there was one play last night where he was behind the Tampa net in a scrum, saw where the play was going to go and busted his ass to be in position and picked off the outlet pass just inside the blue line). But, he does not have an offensive atom in his DNA. Down 5-6 goals, entering the zone 1 on 1 and refuses to try and beat the defender for a scoring chance. He HAS to move back down the line up.
It's one game. Not a good one and embarrassing. But the team had been 5-1 in prior six. Defensive trends are not great by any stretch of the imagination, yet not going to use this wipeout to say do a massive turnover.

He is a third liner miscast on top line. We know what he is. Used correctly, he is a key component of a winning team.
if the Rangers are clearly not a playoff team by the deadline and Fast still doesn't have an extension, they should see what they can get for him
even if they are in the mix to bring him back July 1st - jimbo83
Agreed.
Fast is actually a case where they could trade him at the deadline and resign him next year. It's not like he's Jay Beagle who got overpaid to win faceoffs.

to me Fast is the perfect addition for a contender with cap trouble at the deadline
his cap hit is pretty low and he's a solid addition for a team looking to add the final piece
only thing with Fast is that he keeps missing practice for personal reasons so who knows if there is a crazy issue going on there

Why overpay for a faceoff specialist when you could bring in Brad Richards to help you win 43%
