Besides missing the Western Canada trip, Sid will likely be out for home and home's against the Isles, Blues, and Preds
I don't expect a trade to happen at this point, but Bjugs and Galchenyuk better not get too comfy. GMJR has cap space to play with right now. |

Ok, let’s say there’s even a modicum of truth that the Pens are pursuing Pageau. What would you guys want to move for him vs. what you would expect.
I’d want a Galchenyuk package, but would expect Bjugstad to be moved. |

Are you saying you think Bjugstad goes as part of the package to the Sens or just you think he gets moved to make room? I don’t think the Sens would want any of our forwards outside of Simon/Kahun/ZAR and then the obvious ones like McCann etc |

They'd want our 1st, One of our young ELC or recent draft picks and a cap dump in the mould of Bjug or Gally
No Thanks |

Better he takes care of this now than have it linger the whole season. Injuries have been terrible for the Pens but at least it is happening now and not the end of the season. They can still stay in it until everyone is healthy. |

Well, for one his cap hit is only 3.1mill, making it easy to absorb. This is likely going to be his first season as a 20 goal scorer, so he isn't worth a lot. I would think a cheaper retain-able player and a draft pick get it done. A 1st with a mid tier prospect would do it too. Even that seems like a bit of an overpayment (recency bias is strong on him right now). |

I could see OTT wanting to move Pageau. They’re trying to tank and he’s helping them win games. We’ve seen guys go at the deadline for a 1st and a prospect/roster player and he likely fits the bill. Not sure if they’d want Bjugstad but I could see their HC wanting him |

I think Bjugstad would be part of the package. Cost-controlled for another year, but obviously they would want more. |

BTW GMJR said in the latest Yohe article he isn't looking to make any trades right now. He likes the way the pens are playing and wants to see what develops. He had high praise for JJ as well. |

A 1st for a middling 3C rental? AND prospect/roster player? No f'ing way. Dude has one season over 33 points and that was 4 years ago. |

Nobody they can trade for would help more than Letang. How close he is to returning is something hopefully the Pens know but we have no clue. |

Yeah, it sounds like Ottawa Is going to want too much for him, and he isn't really going to move the needle despite how hot he is right now. |

Flames reporting that TJ Brodie collapsed at practice and started convulsing on the ice. He was just standing by himself when it happened. Apparently he was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. |

Lines today, Rino gets his wish on Guentzel-Malkin. I'd at least put Galchenyuk with McCann and Kahun which might work since they possess the puck so we'll an should give him chances.
Guentzel - Malkin – Rust
Kahun - McCann – Simon
Galchenyuk - Bjugstad - Lafferty
ZAR - Blueger - Tanev
Dumoulin – Marino
Schultz – Pettersson
J. Johnson – Riikola

Antoine Vermette, Martin Hanzal, the black dude. Centers are worth more than wingers. The NHL is also a “what have you done for me lately” league and he has 8 goals in his last 6 games. But if you’re going to chuck out some stats you could also add that he had 8 goals in his last 19 playoff games |

A guy who has never cracked 20 goals is on pace for 50 goals. Something tells me he is due for a drop-off. I'd rather not get in a bidding war for a middling 3C. We have some cap space and some assets. Time for JR to go big. But I would focus on defense. |

Looking for that McCann line to do big things while Sid is out. After being very disappointed in him the first couple of games I’ve become a big Kahun guy and think he’s our best shot at a second bonafide top 6 winger behind G. McCann having more success at C would also make moving Bjugstad’s contract down the road a real possibility. I think this offseason we’ll have to pick between Bjugstad and Rust and Rust is obviously the better player there. Would hate to have to pick Bjugstad just because we don’t have another 3C. |

I’m with you. I liked Pageau before his contract extension. He’s pretty mediocre value now and we’d be buying sky high. I’d skip. |

I just read LeBrun's article on cap recapture penalties. I never realized how much the Preds were on the hook for: 24M divided over how many years were left.
How do you even plan for that if like Luongo, he does what's best for his current team and not his old one? |
