I never wanted Kessel moved, but if there was any truth to him being the one who wanted out then the Pens really had no choice.

I read rumors that the Pens initially wanted Garland as the young player coming back, but decided to go for defense in POJ. Hindsight is 20/20 and while POJ may turn out to be a good dman, I really wish they chose Garland.

I didn't expect a ton out of Galch but was hoping for something like 18g's/40pts. In this day in age his UFA status is his biggest attribute.

His criticisms are fair. He hasn’t been good and in fact he’s been looking worse as it’s gone on. But to say zero skill isn’t accurate either.

His assist in the Boston game is him winning a board battle and then sending away Geno and Rust

His assists against Columbus: slick backhand sauce to McCann and cross ice through the box tape to tape sauce to Letang

I agree, he needs to be better and he needs a ton more urgency and to bring back the shades of physicality we saw early on. But to say zero skill is not accurate imo

- WSCTeton17

I never said he doesn't have any skill. I know that he does. I'm saying I haven't really seen him flash any. Having to point out the one or two plays over the course of nine games doesn't say good things.

Guys this is so sad. It’s a must read. Scum bag advisor took advantage of a bunch of guys. Not just Garrison, unfortunately I’m friends with one of the guys who just told me last week about all this. So brutal

Sounds very bad. I am not a lawyer or a financial adviser but I agree with you, sounds like a real scum bag.

Yeah, I was expecting about the same and with how good the Pens are playing defensively they can afford to have one or two defensively-inept players as long as they're producing.

I'm not saying trade him now per-se, but they should definitely be exploring way to upgrade. While they're getting contributions all over the lineup, they only have one bonafide top-six winger in Jake. They need one more IMO.

Yeah... I'd like them to wait. My fears are they might not be able to wait now that Sid is down for 6 to 8 weeks. My worst fear is taking on a chunky contract with term. I was really hoping to go into the off-season with a bunch of cap space and options. Having cap space is great leverage these days.

Didn't give him a chance to drop his gloves or square up like a man would. He immediately sucker punched him in that face. It was pathetic. Lucic is a female dog, has been a female dog, and will continue to be a useless female dog. Frank off
- burgh4life87

Dude, what the (frank) are you talking about? Dont act like kole sherwood didn't know it was coming. He's been playing hockey his whole life. He slashed the goalie as he was protecting the puck. Every player in the league knows whats coming. He went down like he was shot by a cannon from a quarter punch to boot.

I have to think JR will not make the same Hagelin/Pearson/Gudbranson error with Chucky if he does in fact move him.

I think the saying goes something like this. "Hire a financial advisory when you come into money, but hire another finical adviser to audit them, and another financial adviser to audit the first 2."
We'll see what comes of this, but scumbag move and sucks for Garrison and the players. $27 million should set you and your family up for life for multiple generations.

Yeah somebody said that here like a week or two ago. It’s important to hire a fiduciary who has a responsibility to serve your best interests. It sounds like this guy was indeed supposed to be a fiduciary and wasn’t acting as such. They also mentioned forgery, which is fraud. I don’t know if this guy is going to have a leg to stand on

The obvious thing to do is trade Galchenyuk and Bjugstad for Anze kopitar, then Kopitar for Panarin once Sif comes back.

As a proud member of the blood-thirst, unholy horde known as "Flyers fan," I thought that the punch was uncalled for. Drop the gloves and give a fair go if you need to handle it. At the same time, I felt a 5 minute major and game misconduct would have been sufficient.

Lucic still sucks.

Did he slash the goalie or did he swing at the puck and connect with the goalie by default?

Ha ha....I mentioned the same thing a couple of weeks ago.

I'm a little surprised the NHLPA doesn't take an active role in steering players to competent advisers with long track records.

You're not remembering his first few games of the season and like the 2nd and 3rd games (Oilers and Bruins) games after he came back then. There was very obvious flashes of skill and skating ability in those games. Its looked like he's gotten worse each game the last 3 or 4 though.

For comparative purposes and sh!ts and giggles:

All strengths

GP Shots HDSC shooting % Points
Galch 9 25 8 0.00 3
Malkin 7 22 8 9.09 7
Kahun 17 28 8 10.71 7
Rust 7 17 12 29.41 7

EDIT: its too bad it all didnt align like it did as I wrote this...kind it makes it look like Rust has had 29 HDSC's...thats his shooting %.

Yeah when anyone who has a pulse can be hired to be a FA I stay away. Dude that lives near me, Ive had beers with at block parties here and there. Havent heard from in a while, calls me up and he has a new job and all of a sudden wants to be friends.

Nope.

Paid up life insurance is right for some but not most and $30MM is way outside the range of what he could afford. The way I heard it this guy duped these NHLers into these policies as he reaped commissions. The policies are currently underwater, there’s no surrender value, and the premiums are outrageous

I would agree. He was generating. I would essentially describe him as this: pretty good with the puck but pretty bad away from the puck; occasionally getting open, making a good defensive play, or a big hit but not enough based off the role he had been given. Underwhelming for sure

Thanks for explanation. And pardon, i confused him with his buddy Légaré who went #74... and later start in QMJHL season seems to be semipar till now.
- VeryModernMan

No problem, I like talking prospects more than most here.

Some scouting services had Legare in the same range, but most didn't. Along with similar skating issues, he's been a linemate dependant finisher, which is showing because his numbers are down. He has a special shot though so if he can find his way on to a PP he can he can have a nice career even if he's lacking elsewhere. Pens could certainly use a right handed sniper.

The league is phasing out guys like him who only put up boardline top 6 offense while struggling away from the puck. Teams would rather have guys like Rust, Kahun, even Simon, etc than a guy who gets about 20-40 but otherwise is a hindrance. 25-50, maybe you can get away with it.
