Through the last 5 games, Edmonton has only scored 4 goals in the first period while allowing 6.

I'm not saying it's not a valid point but 3 of those GA came against San Jose.

Looking forward to seeing how Jones fares in his second go around in the NHL. Being paired with Klefbom over an at-the-time-struggling Larsson will help, but he'll also be on the right side. He's gonna have an even smaller margin for error on getting beat wide, particularly against such a fast team. Let's hope he's up to the task!

I don't care how much Persson has struggled at times, I never want to witness a Russell/Manning pairing again. Hope Jones does well though. Also, I really don't understand the restricted use of the 4.5 million dollar starter who actually has exceptional numbers this year. I don't mind Smith at all, but going back to him this game doesn't make any sense to me. I actually though Koskinen should have started the SJ game even.

Smith is 11-1-4 with a 2.08GAA and a .931 sv% against Colorado in his career while Koskinen is 1-1 with a 4.26GAA and an .871 sv% in 3 games. Whether rightly or wrongly, Tippett seems to value past numbers against teams in his decision-making.
