Win 4 of the next 5 games and all wil be forgotten - manvanfan
The thing that I've noticed as different from the losing streak last year is that their spirit doesn't look broken partway through these games. They've been in all of them and have been a bit snake bitten at times. A couple of lucky bounces and they're probably closer to .500 over the last few.

They aren't being beaten badly in these games.
Those bounces I think need to be earned. Turnovers in the past few games. Those stretches passes are being picked off constantly.
Vancouver has a skilled team that needs to build up to the other teams blue line.
I felt that when I was watching yesterday I saw two different teams. One that tried to rush the puck up the ice constantly and one that passed the puck around, waited for space and moved up as a unit and they controlled the game much better.
Van has 3 centers that are good at carrying the puck through the neutral zone and mobile defence.
It was D to D and a stretch pass up the boards that was picked off constantly.
As long as the improvements are there and moving up in the standings all good. - LordHumungous
At the start of the season we were all happy go lucky with how awesome they were playing. Now injuries are happening and not key injuries but still. Schedule gets tougher.
I think this team is better than the way it's played in the past 5 games which has led me to be a little harder on Green. I knew they weren't going to keep putting up 5 games a goal but this team has quite a bit of offence that has slowed to a crawl. It's much better than 2 goals a game.
Defence was scoring and that has dried up pretty good. If you are going to stretch pass from your own zone, the defenders are not going to be involved by the time they get there.

Yeah, I think they look exactly like what they are - a young team still learning how to be consistent.
There's plenty of little things that can be improved upon but at least we can see that the foundation for a good team is there, and that should lead to a few more wins by the end of the year.
Can we end the Loudini experiment, much rather see Zacmac, Bailey or Graovac on the ice for the 6-8 minutes per game, than see him out on the ice.
That 4th line spot should be used on someone who can at least bump and grind a little bit.
Larchied was bang on, this team is close to being a playoff team but 2 years away from being true contenders for the cup. - Bettmanhatesus
I can't agree with that because we've seen what injuries to our bottom six has done. Wait until it starts happening to our top six. To be a playoff team you need depth to fill in while your injured guys recover. To be a true contender you need so much more.

Yes there is the injury curse this team has, the depth is getting better and some interesting prospects in the system. No team can replace top 6 injuries.

Pits won the cup twice with Crosby and Malkin. They usually missed the playoffs if either spent significant time injured. EDM will be the same, most teams are. A lot of strong teams miss the playoffs when one of their top 2 misses significant time.

Again, I can't agree with that. You might not be able to replace with same level of skill, but this is where I think coaching has an effect; systems and roster manipulation. I don't need to go into details for you to know what I'm getting at.
Here's my other issue about the "true contender in two years statement". I don't think Green will be coaching this team in two years. When there is a coaching change there's usually a bit of a reset. Cup contenders don't typically go through changes like that mid run (there are exceptions of course).
I think it's too early yet to start predicting when this team will be cup competitive.

If things go well they will but you can say that about every team.
