Question: If you could have PK Subban or Shea Weber right now, taking their cap hits and contracts into account, which would you choose?
- jmatchett383

Weber easy.

interesting question. Weber is 34 and has 6 more years left on the contract with a cap hit of 7,857,143 altho the last 3 years is only 1 million in actual salary (how the hell was this contract legit?)

Subban is 30 with only 2 more years left at 9 million

I mean, just for talent alone I think i lean Weber but the question is will weber be effective ala Chara thru 40 or will his play drop off. at the time of the trade i was all Subban but I think i go Weber even with the contract. its not cut and dry to me tho

You also have to factor playoff beard into the equation. It's a crime against hockey that we've never seen Weber's 4-round beard.

a follow up from last night

"Browns DE Myles Garrett suspended indefinitely for a minimum of at least this regular season and playoffs"

- 2Real

That was ridiculous. he could have caved in his skull if he hit him with the crown of the helmet. Sheer luck that he was hit with mostly the earpiece. And I imagine that still hurt pretty good.

If I'm Pouncey I appeal. I have no problem with what he did after. I know he tried to kick him but after what he just saw...maybe a game...but 3 seems steep.

I heard rumors that officers were present in the locker room after the game taking statements, but have no official word.

Weber's having a nice start to the season, but can he sustain it? Or even stay healthy? I doubt it.

Thanks for posting this.
I use that quote with my kids a lot. They actually like when I say it now, even though they have no clue what it's from. Usually they're driving me nuts when I say it, and just saying it takes me back to that scene and immediately reduces my stress levels

Great hypothetical. I'd probably go Subban. As others have said, if the decision were strictly based on what the player brings to the table, then I'd go Weber. But considering the contracts involved, I think I'd go PK if I had to acquire one of them. I get that Weber's deal is much less real money in the later years, and with the cap presumably going up his $7M+ hit wouldn't be as bad a hit, but still. I'd rather pay for just two years of what should be Subban's prime then roll the dice on Weber holding up for another 6

I like the way things are going overall but I sure would like to see the pp units reversed, Couturier's line provides a better pp imo, at least until Jake eliminates the brain cramps, he flies around like a fart in a hailstorm and usually coughs it up. I really like Hayes at line 3 center but holy 7 mil plus is absurd. Hart is looking like he is ready to go on a roll, love the kid. Let's go Flyers and please show up in Ottawa, this is the nhl and if you are not ready even Ottawa can kick your ass.

No doubt Weber for me. Subban is over rated and I believe he is a distraction. I think PK is great but would serve better a talk show host or color commentator for Sportnset, and yes there is a job opening there, lol

We can but it won't be Luke this time. Unfortunately the Blues would never trade the guy they stole from us, mvp and cup winner Schenn and his new 8 year deal speaks volumes to how bad we got raped.

He won an MVP award!? When was this?

I'll take my Farabee and Frost and be happy.

I mean, we traded him for Lehtera straight up!

I wouldn't expect Patrick to play in 2019.
- Feanor

Such a shame man.

I don't second guess the pick whatsoever, it's regrettable, but hindsight is 20-20. I think Patrick can be a really good player, this is just so unfortunate.

Yeah, in about 9 years I’ll have an opinion on who won the trade. It was a trade of present for futures. Flyers coming together at the point of those two entering the league—looks good so far.

He was voted the team MVP is his first year with the Blues, he also played a huge part in the Cup win last year, he was rewarded with an 8 year deal and remains a leader and a huge part of the Blues hockey team, a very good hockey team. I love Farabee and hope he becomes the next Gagne but very big win for the Blues short term. As for Lehtera, that bum, Blues were happy to unload that cull even for a late first.

Good point, lol. JVR has to be one of the softest players in the league and like Hayes is not worth 7 mill per season. When JVR is not scoring he is being dominated along the walls, taking a poop kicking in front of the net and is otherwise useless. I think we are stuck with both of them unless Fletchers pulls a Lehtera down the road, haha

For our sake I certainly hope we win this trade down the road but a big loss for the past three seasons anyway. I have a theory right or wrong and that is a bird in hand is worth two in the bush, haha ie Schenn in hand and Frost and Farabee in the bush, lol

I love Farabee and I think he is something special and Frost may be special too if we can afford to wait. I mean we waited years for Morin, Hagg etc and we are still waiting. I cry over Schenn lots simply because what I saw in him is what your getting in St. Louis, a complete leader and top scorer and he was my fav Flyer.
Don't get me wrong, I am am thrilled with Farabee I am past the Schenn trade honestly but just think Schenn deserves the credit he deserves, even from Flyer fans
