Great, Leafs win and TyTy gets a goal

Babcock didn't really have him involved much in the offense; pretty much defeating the purpose of the whole trade. Odd utilization

Fresh off his dismissal from the Toronto Maple Leafs bench, ex-head coach Mike Babcock has come under fire as stories of his questionable treatment of certain players have begun to emerge.

It was one particular story that set social media ablaze over the weekend, as the Toronto Sun reported that Babcock “was alleged to have asked one of the Leafs’ rookies to list the players on the team from hardest-working to those who, in the eyes of the rookie, didn’t have a strong work ethic. The rookie did so, not wanting to upset his coach, but was taken aback when Babcock told the players who had been listed at the bottom.”

It was reported soon after that the rookie in question was Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner, who played his first season with the club in 2016-17.

lol...what a bizarre thing to do to a rookie...moron

me too...who knows what other poop he has done..looks like Calgary coach in a bit of trouble too; see below

The Calgary Flames have issued a statement in response to allegations made by former player Akim Aliu on social media against head coach Bill Peters.

On Monday night, Aliu alleged on Twitter that Peters had directed a racial slur towards him “several times” while the two were together in the AHL. Aliu played for Peters when he was head coach of the Rockford IceHogs, Chicago’s AHL affiliate, for five games in the 2008-09 season and 48 games in 2009-10. Aliu also appeared in 13 games for the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye in ’09-10.

In the series of tweets, Aliu didn’t mention Peters by name, but did refer to a “protégé” of Mike Babcock currently in Calgary. Peters served as Babcock’s assistant on Detroit’s bench for three years.

Sportsnet’s Eric Francis confirmed Flames GM Brad Treliving has been in contact with Aliu.

Wow, Taylor Hall to the Desert for a bag of Richards.

Absolute fleecing IF the ‘Yotes are able to re-sign him. Jesus, even if they aren’t it’s still not bad. Makes you wonder why the Devils didn’t just wait until the deadline??

Sure doesn't look like too much. Know nothing of those prospects, wonder if there's a Studnicka equivalent in there.
I have a hard time thinking they're going to pony up long term. I wouldn't want to give him 9 or 10 or whatever.

Kovalchuk officially available and would like to go to a contender. Is fine with league minimum $$.

I make that deal all day long if I’m Sweeney.

I guess Donnie didn't want to diminish Ritchie's or Heinen's 2nd line minutes.

So much for going to a contender.

2-way contract to boot ...

Literally zero risk.

But hey, maybe Ritchie will seize the opportunity

Yeah I don't get it, too much ability to pass on imo
Guess Donnie worried about the 200 feet, but with 46 and 13 as C's... I dunno.

At least Ritchie won't be filling that spot???

Unless he’s recalled at some point

Which is why I was hoping he’d get claimed. Seems the rest of the league sees how useless he is too, though.

Kovalchuk with another goal last night, then scored in the shootout.

Could have been had for LESS $$ than the Bruins are saving by burying Backes.

Wake up, Donny.

Maybe the Bruins can get him from Montreal for Urho and a first round pick?

I’d trade John Moore to Philadelphia for Gritty straight up.

How about we just grab McQuaid all (frank)ing ready.
Sign him for the rest of the season., not going to break the bank and it will keep Pasta, Kruger, McAvoy from having to fight.

I hear ya ... I would assuming that he still has legs and can hold his own. Donny must feel different for some reason. Or maybe it’s in the works and that’s why he was in Providence last night? Who knows ...

i was curious too and just read he has been skating with Bruins on a unofficial basis...hasnt played all year, but would have been welcome in SCF if he could keep up...would loved to see him plow a few (frank)ers

Agreed. But he’s probably the slowest guy in the league at this point...
