Carried over:

Expecting a competitive team and a wild card spot is a ludicrous ask?
- daws44

No. Expecting cups, which some people are actually doing, is ludicrous. Also, I hope your expectations are higher than wild card. This team should be battling for top three in the division, that’s competitive.

Well I wasn’t expecting cups.
After our gm butchered the art of contract negotiations the writing was on the wall.
Robbing Peter to pay Paul if you will.
Something had to give.
A piss poor backup and shoddy defense is the outcome.

Dubas is in a tough spot with the Cap / Contracts and needing a steady D all converging at the same time.

As Paulie says in Donnie Brasco ... I can tell you someone is getting whacked.

From the last blog.

Just going to leave this here:

"I would go through the end boards for him," Rich Clune on Sheldon Keefe.

That's cuz Clune can't stop.

Exactly. But experts here tell me dubas had to pay “market value” for these guys. If market value is paying 20-30% more than they are worth and decimates the rest of the team, and 1st round draft picks, then sure I get it.

Dubas is like Trudeau. No real substance. Just a sassy and hip look and an ability to recite a few buzz words and most importantly his family to launch his career on.

While I agree he overpaid on those contracts, I disagree with unwilling to make bold moves. The Colorado and Ottawa trades say differently. Maybe he’s needs to do another one is what you mean? In that case, I agree. Kappy or Johnson or Barrie to mix it up.

I think Dubas wants Keefe and has since he was hired.

Shanny wants Babs.

Time to make a change. Today. They have a day off today and a practice tomorrow.

Babcock can drown his sorrows in hookers and blow in Vegas.

Is there a better time ?

Sure a first timer GM who assembled this bunch of soft, selfish, apathetic players hiring a first timer coach. What can possibly go wrong?

Well, Babcock sure isn’t (frank)ing doing anything right. He’s been consistently disliked everywhere he goes by players. He doesn’t adapt. Keefe is the best internal option and probably the best overall when you look at who’s out there.

It’s not just the players or Dubas’ fault. It’s everyone’s. Players can be coached differently, that’s the first change that needs to happen.

Now’s the time. Babcock is where he left off with the Wings’. Failing to utilize what he has in the proper manner. Fire his ass.

I think you are overreacting.

Keefe is his guy. He was getting a lot of interest from NHL teams but the Leafs wanted him to stay.

Obviously because he has a shot with the Leafs....
