I personally fault Babs for Barrie's play.
How can a 50-60 point offensive D-man, only be on pace for 19 points? What changed? - PatC80
Dubas said to him, “suck on purpose so we can blame Babs. It’ll be one step closer to firing that boomer.” |

Mikheyev started out great, but he has really cooled off and is showing some stone hands recently. Hope he is more than just a flash early on. - senstroll
The moment he crosses the blue line he shoots the puck. Like dude, just because you’re Russian doesn’t mean you’re Ovechkin. |

What a plan....
It's Dubas' fault that Babs asked Barrie to re-invent his game.
Lousy Dubas.. Why can't he foresee things like this? I wonder if his calculator is out of battery? |

They already had offensive d men. They already had their PP number 1 d man. Would have been better to get a prospect or pick in the trade, or a stay at home guy if possible. |

He uses a solar powered calculator. Babs’ massive ego is in the way. |

wonder if he's just not used to playing this many games so quickly and it's a conditioning thing. he went from a better version of hyman to replacement level in one month lol |

Interesting.. Did Babcock get any permission to travel to Russia to speak to Mikheyev or behalf of the Leafs by talking it over with Shanny and Dubas? Or did he just say "frank you Duby, I don't need you, I run things around here"? - PatC80
Dubas declined to be interviewed by the Star regarding the signing. In a quote from Dubas supplied by the team’s media relations department, the GM praised Paliafito but made no mention of Babcock’s role.
“We are very appreciative of the time and effort that Jim Paliafito has put in to scouting and developing a relationship with Ilya,” Dubas said. “ Jim has done an excellent job here again working with Ilya to showcase how the Leafs can help him reach his potential.”
--> quite obvious that Dubas was pissed off with Babcock doing his job better than himself. |

I agree, but he didn't... Barrie is an upgrade on Gardiner and should be used as an offensive d-man, not asked to change his game and learn how to be a stay-at-home defenseman..
That's like asking Gauthier to center the 1st PP unit. |

If Dubas would not allow him to talk to a player that upwards of 20 teams were interested in that would be retarded. |

did you blame Babego when 70pt Nylander turned into 6 goal Nylander last season? was it Babcock's fault that Nylander was out of shape and missed camp?

And we wonder why we’re losing.
That lineup doesn’t smell of contender to me.
Marner can’t get back soon enough. - Garnie
I think Shore is the odd man out tonight with Engvall in his spot.
Edit: my bad it could be Timashov who sit. IJDK |

How is that comparable?
Nylander's situation was way different than Barrie's.

Personally I would have used Barrie on the first unit at least sometimes. However, looking a the first PP unit who comes off? Someone is getting pissed off. Nylander? Marner? Barrie is a needless asset on the Leafs. Supply and demand. |
