Yes.
Because no way in hell would Florida make that trade. Not a year ago, not now, not ever.
So yeah, it was pretty derp. - Scabeh
A lot of if it is battle and compete for pucks. I'm not saying anything about the players' give a poop meter on the PP, but speaking from my own team's perspective, Jake DeBrusk is similar to how you describe Armia. Very good at digging pucks out of the corner, cycling back to the points to create space, and then move his ass to to the front of the net to wreak some havoc. There is still a spot for role players on the PP, albeit, probably just 1 in an ideal scenario. |

a precipitous drop in measured performance... not similar at all.
the reasons are different... one happened because one guy signed a new contract... the other got traded...
but both put into situations that they couldn't perform in....
circumstances, sure.
blame the coach if you like, but some is certainly on the player... and some is on the GM - in each case - BorjeFan4Ever
Nylander's performance last year was on Nylander, no one else.
Barrie being asked to re-invent himself, is on the coach..

While Matthews in potential is a the best player - it would make Leafs directly a much better team. - MaximusAurelius
i've never been an ekblad fan. that said with the ~6 mil or whatever they save they could get another good dman via free agency if any are available and yeah, they'd probably be better as a result. getting a great contract like barkov's would be huge. |

actually - that would be a hell of a good idea... the Goat on the PP... takes the faceoff and goes to the front of the net....
there's no one else going there now... would send a good message to the guys currently on the powerplay wouldn't it. - BorjeFan4Ever

if babcrotch wants to split PP time relatively evenly he should consider moving matthews to pp2 with nylander

Nylander-Rielly on the point - PatC80
seriously ... replace Nylander with Barrie... Barrie's got a good one-timer and create some movement along the blueline... half the problem with the PowerPlay is they are stationary, Marner used to get everyone moving when he was on the right side.
again, worth a shot |

I agree with you, but I don't think Babs has it in him to make two changes to one pp unit...
That's asking a lot |

Everything you just said boils down to the coach. Even as far as the players not giving a poop, it's literally the coaches job to make them give a poop.
People can blame dubas all day, but unless you genuinely believe, without looking at the rest of the bullpoop, that this roster has played to its ability through the first 20 games, then yes that's on dubas.
Literally anything else is on Babcock. |

Viktor Hedman didnt become the dominating factor for Tampa until 23-24-25y old.
Ekblad is still 23.
I think he will become quite a lot better.
Would be a perfect partner for Rielly. |

If a guy is a professional athlete and still needs the coach to tap his ass with his stick to skate hard thats a joke. If this is the case this team is done. |

Babcocks entire premise from day 1 of having tavares was dispersing 3 lines as even keeled as possible, thus making it impossible to defend against.
Yet, when it comes to the Powerplay he has always been happy to go against his own logic throw the best 5 players over boards immediately, followed by whoever he deems next best.
He has early onset dementia I'm sure of it. |

I agree with you, but I tend to stay shy of telling another team’s fan base that they should fire their coach. Not to mention, I watch them, but not nearly as close as all of you.
Except santo, that wannabe tanner guy doesn’t even watch the games!

Ekblad is having a fantastic year this year. He’s playing exceptional and you should try and check him out one night if you can
He’s played really well since like the 2/3 point of last season IMO |

You give a 21 year old kid a 50 million dollar contract and you're blown away he would need to be told to go earn it? |

Personally I'd rather have Debrusk than Nylander on my team.
Same for Heinen over Johnsson.
Looking at increasing chances on a SC win - not points per player. |

False
Huberdeau was on the block early last year and had a poor start (great 2nd half)
Go derp yourself |
