Toews and Kane were not clicking together to start the year, that is why they were split up. Of course it was JC’s system as to the reason. The inmates run the asylum now, and went back to last years defense be damned system because the system has stifled Toews and ADB scoring. How has that worked out? You think Saad would rather go back and play with Kampf and Kubalik? Amazing to say, but Kampf has been a much better player on the boards then Toews this year.

From Dietz, about the Blackhawk ‘compete’ level.

The Blackhawks blocked 6 shots on Saturday. COL blocked 18, 6 by Ian Cole.

So COL had 1 guy block as many shots as the entire Blackhawk team. It doesn’t take much skill to block a shot, just the desire to do it.

There's the issue. To some, the lack of consistent effort is the coach's fault. Others believe motivation comes from within.

Whoever's at fault, this issue has been present for the end of Q's time, and much of JC's. One season they lost a competitive series to StL. The next they were emasculated by the Preds. They haven't been the same since.

Agreed. But isn't it easier to eliminate the right to post of all those with whom we disagree? Of course, the joint will be empty, but nobody will be offended!

Love the ice scraper (though isn't that Seabs' brand stick? would it hold up?)

$25 for the ice scraper, and as you said it might break the first time you use it.

Definitely not the magic bullet, but I would try it again (1988, that is), since nothing was clicking at the beginning of the year. Worth it to see if the rust being shaken off (has it?) changes their success rate together.

Some cool items, but the prices are a little ridiculous. ~$100 for a bottle opener made from a piece of a game used stick? $200 for one made from a game used puck?

I appreciate that they are hand crafted and come with COA's, but the prices, even for "authentic" stuff is a little rich for the novelty.

True - I'll admit to not really looking at the prices. Oops.

Block his ID and he will just post under a new one, may as well just leave him for everyone to ignore. I seem to have missed whatever racist posts he had. His posts expressing his hockey knowledge were more than enough to make me stop reading them.

Tyler. I agree. The Hawks are exactly who we thought they were, a bubble playoff team. Sometimes looking good (Dallas) and sometimes looking awful (Colorado). They are not deep enough to withstand injuries to their 2C and 1D.

I would move Kubalik onto the Toews line, taking off Nylander. I am not down on Nylander. I just think Kubalik is a better player and a better fit for that line. I also would give Kubalik more PP time. He is the 3rd leading scorer and he was a healthy scratch two games and is only playing 12 minutes per game. If he played 17 minutes a game and had some additional PP time it is reasonable to think he could that he could have 10 goals.

I believe ADB will start scoring at a higher rate. His shooting % indicates some bad puck luck. I think his summer training has caused him to try to be more of a playmaker. He needs more work in this area. Soon he will figure out that he needs to go back to his strength, finding an open area on the ice and setting up for a quick, accurate, elevated shot.

Saad Toews Kubalik
ADB Strome (when healthy) Kane
Kampf, Dach, Caggiula (when healthy), Shaw
Smith, Carpenter, Nylander

They are a marginal team. But they are not awful to watch (most of the time). Last year it was hard to watch them play, even during their good stretches).

I would like to see them be competitive and contend for a playoff spot. But diving to the bottom and getting lucky in the lottery would be ok too.

I miss the one-sided trades: Saad for Laine, dog poop for McDavid ... there were some good ones.

Another from John Dietz:

The Blackhawks had 29 shots on Saturday.
20 Came from just 4 players (Toews, DeBrincat, Kane & de Haan had 5 each).

WTF was everyone else doing?

I did read an analysis (don't remember where) in the last few days that all of DCat's numbers (TOI, Shots, etc.) were right on his from LY. It's the pucks not going in. Good god, he hit the post on an open net the other day.

Something has to give. This team is floundering from bad to ok to sometimes good. The reality is the current line up will not win any cups let alone make the playoffs, so what to do?

Who needs to get moved to really change this team around?

Sorry but four more years of Seabs and Toews and others at those salaries means this team is not going forward. Money needs to be better invested. Either that is the form of picks or younger personel. Culture change required.

If that means either that Kane and Saad or others get moved then so be it.

Like I said Something has to give. Staying the same and expecting different results is an exercise in futility.

The record now and in the past few years speaks for itself.

- Hawkster

Saad will have a modified NTC kicking in on July 1, 2020 so I would think he could be a candidate to get moved before that but, for what or who?

I'm not normally a line-up making person, but I'd like to see Dach with Toews & Kane. Have the young kid learn & play from our 1c & the best hockey players today. What could go wrong? Adb & Strome, when he's healthy, could play with Shaw. I want to see Saad-Kampf-Kubalik reunited. That was a good line to start the year & got on a decent roll. Carpenter-Caggiula, when healthy-Nylander, who played well on the 4th line.

We looked so slow both games against Colorado!! Yes, they might be the fastest team in the West, but man did we look lie we were in quicksand. Sure glad they spent to the Salary Cap for a bunch of slow veterans that cannot keep up any longer. Like de Haan and Carpenter a lot, but other than those two, the rest can go. Bring up Boqvist and some players that can skate and play like they give a poop!!

From ProHockeyRumors.com

Since the promotion of former head coach Sheldon Keefe to the same position with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies have been searching for his replacement. The team has decided to go outside of the organization to tab their next bench boss, a rare move in-season, and have announced that Greg Moore has been named head coach. Moore was hired away from the USHL’s Chicago Steel midway through his second season with the team.

Moore, 35, is very familiar with developmental hockey. A young head coach, Moore was himself an NHL prospect not long ago. The Maine native played for the U.S. National Team Development Program in the early 2000’s and then played his college hockey at home at the University of Maine. He was drafted by the Calgary Flames after his freshman year, but his rights were traded to the New York Rangers before he turned pro. Moore made his NHL debut with the Rangers in 2007-08 overall made ten NHL appearances with the Rangers and Columbus Blue Jackets over five pro season in North America. He also played a leadership role with nearly every AHL club he played for. Moore moved to Germany in 2011 and extended his playing career another four years before calling it quits in 2015. He immediately jumped into the coaching ranks, becoming an intern assistant coach with the USNTDP. After two seasons as an intern, he became full-time in 2017-18 only to be named head coach for USHL rival Chicago a year later.

Moore is well-regarded among young NHL coaching prospects. His Steel team went all the way to the Clark Cup in his first season and recorded a 52-25-5 record overall in 82 games with Moore behind the bench. His name had already been in the mix for possible NCAA openings this off-season, but he gets an even better deal with an AHL promotion mid-season. The Leafs organization has seemingly had an eye on Moore for some time, as they invited him to be a guest coach at development camp this summer and worked quickly to hire him just ten days after the firing of Mike Babcock and promotion of Keefe. Moore will be in the spotlight with the Marlies, but has a bright future ahead of him following this major career move.

Gee, I would have thought the Hawks could have used this guy somewhere in their organization.

How does this bumhole still have an account here after his blatantly racist and ignorant comments? This site is a joke.

The joke here is you and a few select others threw the race card around at myself and a few other posters. We simply laid out facts and called you and the others out for your sheer lack of any knowledge , history .

It's truly appalling that you think your entitled to speak out and everyone else needs to conform to your sick racist ideology or be shutdown .

Well there's always a team at the TDL who believe they are poised for a long run in the playoffs looking to add a 200 foot forward with playoff experience.

Panthers, Islanders, Flyers, Canes in the East? NYI only one with sufficient cap space.

Oilers or Coyotes in the West? But they don't have the space either.

Most teams would have to clear some salary, so Saad for purely a pick and/or prospects is not likely.
