There are rumours in Calgary that Johnny is doing something off ice that is hurting his game, just a rumour but many sources per my Calgary source. Gaudreau has become a perimeter player and rarely gets his nose dirty, also very predictable when he enters the O zone. Yes I would do Voracek and Gost for him too and take our chances. IMO Voracek is going to be dead weight down the road. Gost is totally overated and only us Flyers fans know that he is a train wreck most nights.

He has/had the dirty nose off the ice. He's not going to re-sign in Calgary once he becomes a UFA so I would trade him at some point and the fact he's not built for playoffs...throw in Monahan too just because he sucks and isn't built for playoffs neither.

How is Philly linked to every single rumour post?

I have been vocal here about not trading Ghost but I've changed my mind.

Perhaps he can get back to 50 points somewhere else but he's so off with his shot, poor at actual D that he's a new school Tom Poti.

With that said, I don't think Calgary is going to trade Johnny Hockey on that contract. I just can't see it.

If Calgary can get 2020 First Rounder, a top pick (I assume Frost and Farabee are off the table) and Ghost - that's a pretty good haul.

Someone else in the comments posted at to where Johnny G would play? Who cares - 3rd line is fine. That's what Cup teams look like... Stacked!!!!

Only way Gaudreau could ever come to Philly is IF Voracek or JVR went the other way OR somewhere else in a separate deal.

As for Ghost, he's taken a big step back from his career year but he's not as bad as people make him out to be. For a guy like Gaudreau, I would deal him in a heartbeat however im not actively interested in just getting rid of him. Most people who want to trade guys are usually just biased against that player or just want a shiny new toy.

But did he have Flyers pajamas? We all know that's ALWAYS the deciding factor.

From the Flames perspective:
Ghost at $4.5/year makes zero sense for us as he would play on our bottom pair next year behind Gio, Anderson, Valimaki and Hanifan (Assumes Brodie & Hamonic dont return next year).
The Flyers 2020 1st rounder looks to be in the bottom 10 picks so not super
valuable.
JG has 408 PTS in 423 NHL games (.96/game) Konecny 149 PTS in 260 NHL games (.57/game).
Both JG and TK have club friendly contracts.
Get my point ........

I didn’t say Ghost gets it done. I said the opposite. I’m well aware that Ghost plus extras gets laughed at.

As for TK, he’s just starting to become a force. He’s a few years younger. When he’s 26, that ppg will be much better and closer to Gaudreau’s. As of now, his rookie season really pulls it down. He also is a better defensive player. I didn’t say I wouldn’t include him, either. I said if they did, then we’d have to trim back on the extras.

But even then, it wouldn’t make too much sense for Philly to include TK. Giroux and Lindblom are their top 2 LWs. Regardless of who gets moved to the 3rd line, that would be a waste. Then JVR on the 4th? Or Laughton loses a job? Yeah. Nvm. Doesn’t make sense for the Flyers to make a deal involving TK in the least.

Now if you include Lindblom, it would make sense. Direct swap.

The Flyers wouldn’t do this one.

As ridiculous as the Ghost offer one is for Calgary, this one is too much for Philly. Before this season I wouldn’t have said that, but it’s clear that TK is becoming invaluable to the team.

Either we have to trim back a little on the extras, or sub Lindblom’s name for TK. Lindblom, an unprotected 1st, and Zamula? Maybe Brink instead of Zamula? Bobby Brink is a couple of years away, but has good top end offensive potential. Lindblom, Brink, and a 1st is a pretty hefty haul. The problem here would be making the salary work, I suppose. At the beginning of the season, the Flames would have laughed at this, but Lindblom is really coming into his own. Leads the team in goals, and plays hard every night.

Konecny has been the Flyers’ best overall forward this year. He’s learned to play hard on both ends of the ice, not just as a scorer. His vision is outstanding. I don’t think they’d want to let him go to get Johnny G as much as try to add him to his line. A Gaudreau-Frost/Couturier-Konecny line would be deadly.

I'm not giving up Lindblom or Konecny. Build from within. That is the best way. Gaudreau is a fine player but the cost is too high.

there are a lot of Habs fans that think they have a pretty good roster.
- prock

Maybe but they are definitely not getting it done. I think they are one solid LD away from being competitive. Otherwise they will continue to be mediocre.

Gaudreau’s problem is that he does get his nose dirty!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Quite a bit actually. He’s no stranger to rehab. He shared a room with Hall I believe.

I live in Calgary but have been a Flyers fan my whole life. Johnny is very talented, but soft. Not a winner. Do not trade for him. Unless you can get him for veteran players which Calgary will not do. Philly trending in the right direction. Do not mess with it. In 2 years he will be a free agent and get overpaid for the 1 dimensional player he is.
