While I agree, lets also be realistic and face facts this team couldn't play defence to save their lives going all the way back to the 80's. Mike Kitchen couldn't play defence we expected him to coach it! We have ALWAYS put everything on our goalies and expected them to stand on their head every night to cover up our ineptitude. About time that changed also.

Not excusing Hutch, we need an upgrade, BUT..... we need to fix the defence on this team finally. LONG overdue!

There were multiple giveaways by the Leafs in their end that game. Matthews made two brutal ones right in front. One of which Hutch made the save. They are a tire fire defensively in front of Hutch. Getting a better backup is a good thing, but it's not going to all of the sudden make the Leafs play well in their end.
