Interesting to read these former disgruntled players. Chelios sounds disappointed in his use in his aging years... and this is news? Chelios was like what, 45? The Franzen interview is odd. What did Mike actually do? Yell at him a few times? Maybe Franzen has trouble sleeping from all the concussions he got? Didn't they end his career?

I think what must be kept in mind is that professional hockey cannot be compared to a normal workplace. If so, then what other workplace allows guys to bash each others faces in and simply get a 5 minute penalty? Or allows some guys to lick others faces with no consequences? Or has rampant drug use? Physical abuse and racism has no place, but some of this sounds like sour grapes imo...

I am willing to bet that over a 20+ year career Chelios has said some form of homophobic or racist slurs on the ice. The floodgates could very well be opened.

Nah, the last one will be JVR skating really slowly from his own end. Right in front of Hutch he will pick the puck up and place it gently in Hutch's glove. Hutch will then proceed to drop the puck, it will bounce off the inside of his right pad and fall slowly across the goal line as Hutch quickly moves to his left.

What about on ice antics in the NHL? Scott Stevens almost killed some guys. Clarke bashed peoples faces in. Some nasty things were said on ice. Chelios was a TURD also.

I doubt racist slurs. That's never really been tolerated in the NHL. Slurs against nationality? Sure. Anti-Italian heritage slurs for sure - ask anyone who ever played any sport in Toronto.

Homophobic slurs? There wasn't a player who played in the NHL in the 1980s who didn't utter at least one.

I'm glad it's out of the game now, but it's stupid to hold guys to a higher standard now for past actions. It was perfectly acceptable - hell, it was fun and funny - in that era.

I work all day every day at +2 in a meat cooler. Chill gets right to your bones some days. Knuckles, knees and elbows seem to always ache.
