Without reading more than the title

Yes the power play is killing this team

2, yes 2!!!! 5 on 3's last night and they got what 2 shots on goal...

It's brutal, they're passing way too much trying to set Eichel or Olofsson up

Shoot the damn puck more and that will open up the Eichel and Olofsson shots

they've really had only two awful periods of hockey the last seven games or so--the 3rd period against tampa and last night in the second period...they gave up three short-handed goals in those two periods

I was watching last nights play develop and before it was even turned over I yelled out here comes a shortie, it's all mental lapses which I believe we have been saying or heard from the coaching staff of this team for the last 4 years.

To those who would consider trading Sam, may I hear who it is you propose to play RW on lines 1 - 3. We can assume Okposo occupies the 4RW until he doesn't.

Tage? Oh boy. Maybe 3rd...he's probably better utiluzed in a trade package.
Cozens? Ok, we have 1

Or should they plan to promote Sobotka or Sheary? Maybe they try Risto?

I fail to see the logic in dealing the only solid RW on this team.
There are plenty of good LW's, very much less so at RW

It always feels like it's coming. Everyone in the league knows to pressure hard up top and defend cross ice passes. We don't create opportunities down low and continue to have a soft, inconsistent net front prescience. It's just the personality of our forwards.

Moving Sam makes little sense at the moment unless you get a true 2nd line center that is under contract for the next 3-5 seasons at a good cap hit.

That player needs to be a 60 point two way center.

That player will most likely cost more than Sam Reinhart in a package

Then add in the fact that there are no other wingers that would replace him like you mentioned...

Botts needs to start moving defense ASAP.

I mentioned in the other blog that I think Botterill is so gun shy about moving roster players especially after the ROR trade (depending on who you believe that could have been Pegula's doing)

I don't want him to go all GMTM here but enough is enough, a move needs to be made before the Christmas roster freeze.

They need to just get shots on early and let the opposing D scramble and then set up.

Even if you shoot wide on purpose they will collapse by the net and it will give them some time

Maybe Botts needs to order his team to start taking many liberties at all the 1 and 2 RhD's in the league to create Demend, since his Team has an abundance of them.

THIS!!!!

Holy crap, show you will shoot the puck from everywhere, it gives the D more space to make that cross ice pass or if that's not there shoot the damn puck

Interesting thing about the power play problems is that they have to be a coaching problem. We have the guys that can make a potent power play but the system that Kreuger implemented is currently failing. It was running hot at the beginning of the year and other teams have caught on. What changes are made moving forward are on the coach. I trust it will get ironed out in time.

You know they get told this. It will be obvious for a few PP's, then they just drift back into what they always do. It's the personality of this group and why whoever questioned the composition of our core last thread was dead on.

And, how about getting the puck into the slot from the point, rather than always sending it to Jack or Olo...who are now usually covered.

Questioning it is easy. Making the right quality moves to change it is much more difficult.

There's also been analytics that show point shots with traffic in front are a negative outcome event for the offense. I wonder if that plays at least a part.

No question there, but JB has also kicked the can on committing to this core. Big decisions coming on Sam, Montour, and even Risto (with only 2 more years remaining on his deal).
