It’s the same thing that happened with Mantha and AA. Playing them with 3rd and 4th liners on limited mins will not show what they can do. Look at how both blew up last year when they started getting consistent ice time and on the PP. |

I think that’s a fair and accurate point |

I know that they’ve got to learn at the NHL level, but the lessons won’t get picked up without exposing them. I’m good with the rebuild because you could see it coming for a few years but we’ve got to see what we’ve got with some of these guys. It won’t be long before they have to perform, or you find out that they can’t and it’s too late. |

I’m also fine with letting them development. My questioning in this case is if you have to have Zadina up, at least put him where his skill set is most useful. The logic of player usage Is still beyond me at times

As much as I like Glendening, he isn’t a goal scorer that should be playing along with AA. Put Zadina on the 2nd line for a few and see what happens. Playing with a slumping Frans just seems like the worst plan possible, yet here we are.
He’ll thrive, or you’ll know he isn’t what you thought you drafted. |

While I don’t care for Zadina on the 3rd line it’s not a big deal if he’s on the top PP. Also I like the idea of him playing out the season in Detroit over going back to GR regardless of the line he’s on. |

Exactly what I have been wondering.
It was one thing when the likes of Zetterberg and Datsyuk started out on the 3rd line because the Wings were stacked in talent. However, it’s seeming that Blashill is stuck in a Babcock lesson. Their love for Glenny is understandable, but that does not make him a top 6 forward. Everyone has a role to play. The continuation of using players in roles that don’t fit them is helping how? Giving PP time on an awful PP helps a kids confidence how? Let’s not forget it wasn’t until after the trade deadline that we finally saw Blashill put Larkin, Bert and Mantha together consistently—and they made it impossible for him to split them up.
This, again, makes me wonder if Blashill is helping or hurting the development of some of these kids. |
