Great game. Another shutout by Georgie, points by 12 different guys, 2/5 on the PP, 4/4 on the PK. I will be at the game in Anaheim on Saturday, but there is nothing I want more than a win Tuesday night. |

both Georgiev and Shestyrokin had great weekends
I'd really love to know what they are going to do, you can't exactly send Georgie to the AHL when he's playing out of his mind like this.
I'm not exactly a believer that signing Georgie RFA this summer's contract will be low either, Europe could loom for him too if the Rangers lowball him
I grudgingly agree that all these goalies are a good problem to have, but it's definitely a also a problem that isn't going away |

I wonder if Hank's "Illness" is him setting up to become allergic to his gear or something. |

This might be the perfect time to figure it out though. I think most would admit that "contender" status is on the horizon but not quite imminent. If Georgiev keeps performing this way, there might be a few more teams calling.

Jimbo, what do you think Georgiev would cost? Let's say they give him a 3 or 4 year deal. Just curious. |

Got it. I would think that's pretty much his market value based on the deals Murray and Vasy got. It would be rough for one year with Henrik's hit, but after that it'd be a great deal. Even better if they could convince him to do 4.
I've watched the Rangers FO screw things up for almost 40 years, so I'm not confident they get this right, but if they can maneuver through next year with BL, ADA, AG, and maybe even RS, then I'll be thoroughly impressed. |

I have to preface by saying that I surely don't know what they would give him. But, isn't >$3M a little steep for someone they may not even consider a starter? |

I'm just joking around.
I actually tried to think about it and while I feel Georgiev fleeing for Europe is a possibility, it is unlikely. I tried determining what the highest paid players/goalies make over there and only the most elite offensive players appear to make concerning money.
The highest paid player in the KHL is at 2.82 Mil USD per year (180 million Rubles). The list went down to 70 million rubles with not one goalie at that amount.
I think between 2 and 2.5 gets it done for Georgiev. They could also play hardball since he won't make anywhere near that over there. Maybe my info is wrong but who knows? The info appears to be potentially inaccurate or misleading since those leagues don't seem as forthcoming with that information.
Cost of living over there also has to be considered. |

Keeping all of those players means they must be moving on from Kreider, which I am OK with at this point. |

I figured the same amount, which should be doable, especially if the cap even rises slightly. |

looking at Cam Talbot, he went from 562K to the Rangers, to one year of 1.45 mil with Edmonton and then a 3 year contract of 4.166 mil
different ages but similar circumstances
if Rangers kept Georgie and signed him to one year deal next year for like 1.5 mil that would be great
but they'd also miss out on Shesty's 2nd pro year making entry level $$$

its doable for most teams, but kind of crazy that the Rangers will be putting like 11.5 million into the goalie position and neither one of them is Shestyrokin, in a season where they will have to dance around the cap |

I really think Georgiev simply has to be traded. Shestyorkin is not going to stay in the AHL waiting for Hank to retire. He will leave for the KHL. |

I don't particularly like the solution, I have grown to like Georgiev. I fear that the Rangers ship him out and bring in Shestyorkin that busts. Georgiev is in Vezina talks for the next 10 years.
I am sure that might be why he isn't already in Hartford, the front office wants to ride him until the wheels fall off or right into a playoff berth.
He's looking like Matt Murray. |

if you worry that there is a chance that Shesty could be a bust, I mean, then you sign Georgiev long term and look into trading Shesty |

But there is the concern. Right now you can't keep both. So you have no idea who is going to pan out. Maybe they are both great and have long productive careers. Maybe everyone Allaire works with turns into an All-Star.
I am in the camp of trade Georgiev and keep Shestyorkin. Fight me.
I don't want to hear anyone bring up Hanks retirement tour or trading him, that poop is not gonna happen. It is at least very unlikely to happen. |
