One thing everyone can agree on is that young players all take a different path to becoming consistent contributors in the NHL, no matter their skill set or the expectations..

...also that my punk-rock buddy rrentz can be found more in Mr. Tanner's blog than in the NYR one.

I'm Still rocking out to the Street Dogs, Dropkicks, and Transplants!!!!

It's too much fun to leave Tanner.. I like just laying in wait for his assenine comments to start a firestorm.

Ranger blog goes a little bit off the rails at times. I watch all NYR games, so I don't need to comment as much. We all seem to agree that it's gonna take time. I am happy Kravstov is back in the US. Seems like he never got over being sent down .... wussy.
At least Gorton, Hartford and Co. Can build him back up

Not sure why you think it would be a slam dunk he is the best player on the team... He is older yes but so are other players and even some of the younger ones are a heck of a lot more skilled.

Dylan Strome got traded and while he puts up points the team sucks because Strome has yet to be able to play a complete game (not al the woes are on his shoulders, but the broader philosophy that leads you to choosing Strome over Schmaltz, is).

Hayton is great and he’s going to be a top 6 center and Bergeron lite...there’s no doubt. But just because he’s got good hands and good potential doesn’t mean he would lead to wins.

The team is winning, he is learning and getting stronger and will be a key player down the stretch.

He’s considered one of the best prospects in the world. He’s far more skilled than people that don’t get to see him realize.

He will dominate this tournament and is Canada’s top 1-2 players

Being as the entire ethos of punk ruck is hardcore leftism, I find this curious, even concerning.

Neither is a perfect player, but I do think Strome is a lot better than Schmaltz. Younger too.

Ugh...how? Prove it?

Strome is a negative possession player (terrible in his own zone and neutral zone) shooting 17% (unsustainable), racking up assists by playing with two of the best wingers in the league (lucky), and is a plodding skater in a league that gets faster every season (bad future).

Schmaltz is one of the highest possession forwards on his team, shooting 12%, playing with good wingers (not Kane though!). He is one of the fastest players in the game, and thinks the game fast. He’s spectacular in the neutral zone.

I’m not saying Strome is replacement level. But he isn’t a core top 6 piece that wins a championship. Schmaltz absolutely is. I’d do that trade every day of the week over and over!

Like music for the music my man...Most of the bands I listed don't actually talk any real politics anyway. It's mostly about sex, drugs, and cracking skulls...you know, fun stuff.

I used to like Pearl JAM AND Rage ,and Green Day, but their idiotic views on politics stops me from listening to them anymore.

Please stop bringing up politics Tanner...No one cares what you think...most of us just visit this blog to make fun of you, just like in H.S.

Just a word of advice. If you want to be taking seriously, stop using words like "ethos" on a hockey blog... It makes you sound like the pompous blowhard you really are.

LMAO!!!!
With ~40% of the season in the books, the rebuilding Rangers are ahead of the "Greatest team ever assembled in the salary cap era!!!!!"
With 2 games in hand to boot!
Great take, Tanner.

Let's see how that turns out. I stand by the fact that the Leafs with Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Tavares, Johnson , Kapanen, Kerfoot, Rielly, Muzzin, Barrie and Andersen are the best team assembled since 2005.

Let's give it more than 30 games - none with their optimal roster - that featured a team quitting on their coach, and a new coach completely changing their style on the fly.

I'd also submit the fact that if you had the worst goalie in NHL history, he'd be hardpressed to go o-7 with a 5GAA like the Leafs have gotten from their backups so far.

Weird stuff happens in hockey all the time, and I don't know why people refuse to acknowledge that it affects the outcomes of games.

Since almost none of the weird things that have happened to the Leafs so far will continue to happen, let's just chill and see how it turns out.

I'm sure things will look a bit better when Matthews and Tavares go on PDO benders.

OPINION. You stand by the OPINION that they are the best. Don't know why you can't seem to learn the difference between opinion and fact. I mean, you received a scholarship for your M.A. and everything.
I stand by the FACT that your opinion is wrong.

That laundry list of excuses you provided is called life in the NHL and every team has to deal with stuff like that. You would think that the greatest team ever assembled would be able to make an inadequate coach look good, not get him fired.

Your St. Louis pick was looking pretty bad about this time last year, too...

When in doubt, a weak argument is always buoyed by semantics and personal insults. I personally predicted the Blues to win the Cup last year and so based on the context you put into your thinking, I can't believe you aren't hailing me a master of predictions.

Regardless, here's another fact for you: what you are saying are excuses are in fact just weird things that occured, and yes they can and do happen to anyone, but they also won't happen to the Leafs over the next 30 or so games, which gives them an extremely good chance of posting a better record over this time.

Sure, because my opinion of myself is based upon what musical artists think of me?

They live in a world where everyone gives them everything they want, and tell them everything they want to hear.
You got me.

Lol.

So believe life is based on what other people might think of you.

No surprise. With your atrophied testicles, I wouldn't expect you to have the confidence to think anything else.
