What’s a serious offer for a crumby third line player on a terrible team? Asking for a friend |

The Oilers missed on Taylor Hall (and thank god they did)....
The ask for Athanasiou won't be as high, but I do think he's going to be a value player to anyone who can get him.
Hopefully Holland and Stevie Y are still on good terms. |

So he's 25 and can score goals. Why is Detroit wanting to get rid of him? He still has 5 good years left in him, no? |

This is an awesome buy low scenario. Put on the right team and he could explode. I had hoped Boston would get him but maybe Detroit does not trade within division. Edmonton Or Colorado would be great spots for him. What’s the asking price?? |

It legitimately could be like how Detroit got Fabbri, and he instantly became a top 6 forward on the team and started scoring consistently. I think AA on a line with better teammates than Nielsen, Erne, Helm, Glendening, etc will get his scoring up again. Last year when he was on fire, he was almost automatic on the breakaway, all he was doing was scoring goals. He didn't lose that talent after one season, and he's still young. Someone will benefit by getting him if he is dealt. |

He’s worth more to them in their roster than anything they’d get in return. And he’s 25, RFA and making very little money, so they don’t have to break the bank to keep him.
They’re years away from competing. Doubt he brings a 1st rounder. Certainly won’t bring a great prospect. Better to keep him around vs what the return on him is |

Forget Colorado
How about Kylington and a 2020 3rd round pick for AA?
Kylington is more than a defensive prospect, he has been playing on the Flames third pairing in and out of the lineup, but can't/won't likely make it higher up the lineup, with the Flames defensive depth. He skates like the wind, is only 22 years old and has enough NHL games under his belt to be considered more than a "prospect". On a team with less defensive depth and more opportunity for him - he would likely shine.
Flames fans will likely say this is too much to give up and the 3rd is not necessary. I believe that there will be enough suitors for AA that Stevie Y would want more than a 1 for 1 player trade - hence the 3rd to get it done. Flames can afford to give up a third, because they are getting the Oilers 2020 3rd in the Lucic trade.
AA would be the top 6 forward that the Flames have been needing for a long time.
Also, Treliving has been very clear that he plans to use the cap space gained by trading Frolik. He missed out on Hall - and does not want to miss out again. I really believe that he will try to get a top 6 winger, well before the trade deadline. Toffoli has been mentioned a lot, but Detroit is a better fit considering their needs (left shot defenceman who can skate and has come up through the ranks-2 years in the AHL before getting a semi-regular spot on a deep defensive team)
Toffoli has better size
AA has better speed and is 2 years younger.
I think the makings of a trade are there with Detroit.
I posted this on the Wings thread also. |

I doubt he'll end up on the Islanders... There's no way Butch Goring is going to be able to pronounce his name 4 - 5 times a game! |

As a Wings fan, I guess I haven't seen enough of Kylington to know for sure that I would want him, but this proposal sounds much better than the proposed Colorado trade where the Wings would get a career AHL D'man and a small bag of pucks for AA. |

Your chart has 2 goalies (Quick and Miller) going to Buffalo. Why would Botterill even think of either as the future Sabres goalies are in the system already. It would be wise for him to concentrate on secondary scoring to help out unless Miller or Quick can play forward. |

he's a guy that will probably explode with offense after we trade him. His linemates are not doing him any favors. we gotta pay quite a few rfas this year and find a goalie. he needs a fresh shot with someone else.
