It would be good for Perreault, but it would sure drag the other 2 down.

Actually, both Laine and Scheifele have produced more with Perreault than without him

cold hard facts,

winning the cup is not easy and 95% of the NHL are exactly like us, so yes, we are very hard on players and staff in here when the reality is we are just like most teams in the NHL. We are not Ottawa, Detroit, Devils and a few others who have been bad for a while now, far from it.

those thinking trades and signing players to come to Winnipeg is some easy peasy task are out to lunch

we have a lot of talent on this team and locked up, the future is still very bright!!! anyone thinking its not is also out to lunch

would it be interesting to see what a new coach and GM would do? of course!! does it guarantee a cup, absolutely not!!!

does a big trade guarantee a cup, absolutely not

does moving copp, Perreault and lowry to our 4th line and acquiring a new third line even move the needle that much, absolutely not

- Ross77

How many players have chosen to play in other leagues, because they don't want to play in Winnipeg? Further to that, how come when players do sign long-term extensions with the Jets, many of them want full NMC's? I am genuinely curious as to what you think.

Thanks Ross77!

Can you produce numbers to back-up this claim?

Also, I am curious as to why you would want to separate 40/40 man in Connor from Scheifele and Laine. Looks like the three have developed some tremendous chemistry.

A rather bizarre claim for sure.....I cannot imagine any REAL stats that can back this up.

Its the usual Rexy fake news statement with little or nothing to ever back it up. Kyle Connor has vastly outscored Perreault these past three seasons and Schief continues to set career highs with Connor on his line. As for Laine, I think we all remember the November in 2018 that Laine had the minute Kyle Connor was inserted onto his line and Ehlers bumped.

Therefore, Rexy would have to resort to some 3 or 4 game subset where Sheif or Laine had good games. It would be the usual cherry-picked data we've seen from Rexy ( #TROLL) for years.

Big difference between calling a guy a Troll (in brackets) about a statement that is completely false ( and was definitely not an opinion) and Rexy saying this earlier in the thread....

You guys are idiots.

I may or may not be one of the few ones who still have hopes for Roslovic. He hasn't put the points on the board yet, but they may come. A bit snake-bitten so far - and he's not Nic Petan.

Whether or not we make the playoffs, we still appear to be good shape after the Expansion Draft.
Forwards - Connor, Scheifele, Wheeler, Ehlers (all signed long-term and team friendly) , Roslovic (if he blossoms as I hope), Laine (if he doesn't want $10 mill a season) and ? Copp? Maybe Vesalainen and Gustafsson will be ready?

Defense - Pionk, Morrissey and either Niku or Buff's replacement. Hopefully we can re-sign Poolman after the draft. Add Heinola, Chisholm(?) and hopefully Samberg. Key here is "the Buff replacement." Who or how - not sure!

Goal - Hellebuyck - leaves Berdin available.

As well we will have our 2020 and 2021 1st rd draft choices to add to the mix.

This leaves like players like Little, Lowry, Perreault, Appleton, Harkins, and perhaps Niku as unknowns to include in trades, expose, re-sign or whatever.

So the future looks bright, playoffs or no playoffs this season. But let's not sell or destroy the farm in an attempt to "possibly" come 16th.

how many players have chosen to play in other leagues? i'd guess zero, I think anyone whos playing in another league is so because no team in NHL offered them a contract or they are at the tail end of their career and choose to go home see Enstrom and Datsuk

any player, signing long term extensions with any teams want full NMC's. its gives them full control to pick their next destination if the team asks them to be traded. this is not unique to Winnipeg at all

we lead the league on players partial no trade lists, this is published every year. I fully believe the latest example was Kadri, they reported he turned down a trade to Calgary but I bet Chevy also inquired and was told no. just speculating there of course

I have also seen those stats where 29 and 55 are better with 85, cant remember where at the moment. Connor will be fine on 2nd line with Wheeler and Ehlers, and produce the same results.

agree, we should not be worried about our future or expansion draft.

we should absolutely not be buyers at this years deadline (sell, sell, sell) and we should absolutely not make any trades with Seattle to control who they take!!! let them pick away

If Buff wants to play this year, trade him!!! it might require though that he agrees to retire after this season ( which he may want to???) I'm asking a lot but Buff IF!!! he proves he can come back and be who he was would be the biggest deadline chip in the NHL

Toronto
Buff, Broisent for Hutch, Kapanen and their 2nd rounder.

Florida
Buff ( retained salary) for Borgstrom OR Tippet and a 1rst OR 2nd ( asking for those prospects would probably mean we get the 2nd rounder not first, but I can dream)

Boston
Buff ( retained salary) for Frederik and a 1rst

Tampa
Buff ( retained salary ) for one of their feet (Nolan or Cal Foote ) and a first ( I think they have 2? ( JT Miller?)

I am both definitely a troll, and stating facts. I’m not exclusively one or the other, and everything I say is in line with my opinions. I will exaggerate/hyperbole things for my own amusement, however

The Cal Foote deal with Tampa sounds intriguing. Would work for me.

1st I would like to see Buff finish his contract in Wpg, then year by year after that.

If he is intent on retiring after this contract I heard an offer on a Montreal site proposing Weber for Buff&Perreault with picks exchanged. Montreal gets dollars off the cap sooner (by a few years), Wpg gets a dman with some good years left and also gets cap relief.

Most of the Montreal site was more interested in Laine (including an offer of Weber and Domi for Laine)

Niku finally paired with Pionk where he belongs. Just watch how much better he is at zone exits and his elite passing vs guys like Sbisa , Dalhstrom, and Bitteto.

Well with injuries to Kulikov and Poolman, Niku will finally see some ice time. As in typical Maurice fashion, Niku will play great and Maurice will be deemed a genius for putting him in. Maurice is definitely the luckiest coach in the NHL, if he was a player he would have the highest PDO ever.

Niku being put in is similar to how Connor, Scheifele, Morrissey and Hellebyuck all got their big breaks with the Jets! You have to remember Maurice has had Bitteto, Sbisa, Kulikov and Poolman all ahead of Sami just so you all don't forget.

UJ, almost all players on all NHL teams have to work their way up, it's not handed to them. D-men especially take longer. Doesn't matter who the coach is.
Mainly the only exceptions are players who were drafted very high overall like #'s1-5. They always seem to get more rope.
Why would the Jets be any different?

Exactly. All those guys would have made the team in due course. There is no blame at all on Maurice. Also Niku two games and the Jets have 1 goal against on a bad mistake by Lowry.

Excellent synopsis. I think we're in agreement on every point.
