Yeah we're only gonna get better when Dumoulin comes back and pushes Johnson back down to the third pairing. That third pairing is gonna be a dumpster fire, though. Johnson and Schultz are atrocious together. As far as I'm concerned Marino is our 2RD now and Petterson's partner. - Victoro311

I've been thinking.... can Schultz be traded?
Do you think there might be a market for a perceived 2nd pairing offensive dman.
The emergence of Marino has pretty much meant no extension for Schultz from the Pens correct? |

We may have been unstoppable if we hadn't lost Guentzel for the season. This team is (frank)ing good. - Victoro311

We're going to end up with a 4th line of Galchenyuk-Bjugstad-Hornqvist, at least for a few games, aren't we? |

My concern was top end scoring talent. I actually said our forward depth was going to be a strong suit this year, but by losing Kessel we wouldn't have the elite level fire power to put us over the top. Basically thought we'd have a bunch 10-15 goal scorers and then Sid, Geno, and Guentzel who I thought would regress to a 30 goal scorer, which just wouldn't be enough because I assumed our defense wouldn't improve and we'd need to run and gun to win.
Rust and Marino have been the big X factors that made my take pessimistic in hind sight. McCann, Tanev, and Kahun being the other guys that have really stepped up past my expectations. |

I didn’t notice him at all tonight. Foligno looked to be their only player with a pulse for most of the game. |

Funny you mention that. Yohe put out an article a couple days ago about Sid's tendencies when he returns from extended absences. The game tonight followed the script almost to the letter!

When I watch Galch, I feel he tries very hard every shift and you can see the skill. I wonder why he can't seem to find a fit here? |

I know Simon scored, but I felt like he didn’t fit in well with Sid and McCann. I’d love to see Galch get an opportunity with Sid |

That's why I asked earlier how long he was out. I was at the game and specifically watching him. He was ok, I see the skill, but the way he looked tonight not worth the contract but again he's just back from injury. What do the Wild want though. We were sending Kessel and I think JJ? Can't exactly remember. |

Really? I was at the game so able to see the whole picture, I thought they were all great together. Simon made a lot of good plays regardless of the goal and assist to Canner |

Yea definitely, it's just weird though. It reminds me too much of the Brassard situation. Definitely think we are better off moving him. |

Different GM so who knows, but we can't use the last trade even if we had Kessel to move. |

Same, it's not an effort or pouting thing. Watching that goal tonight reminded me how they talked about maybe putting him at RW like Neal to open him up for one-timers. Maybe try that. |

He had surgery to repair a broken leg, so that’s probably not the swiftest of recoveries as far as getting back to normal.
No clue what they want. |

I think the problem is between the ears. He is like he JJ of forwards. All kinds of skill but he doesn't think the game very well and as a result he is out of position a lot and often doesn't make the right play. This applies to both his offensive and defensive responsibilities. This has to drive Sully nuts.
Speaking of hockey IQ, this is something that Simon has in spades. He seemingly always knows where to be and what play to make. I'm happily snacking on crow right now. |

I can't help but think that a trade with MIN will involve a prospect that Guerin really likes. I think he was still involved during the draft and the Kessel trade so all of those prospects would be relevant to him. |

Well, we had a $7.25M 3rd pairing so why not a $14.3M 4th line? |

Parise on #pens: "Their puck support all over the ice was crazy. It’s like they always had three guys on the puck offensively and defensively. They’d make small, little short passes up the ice together, and they come at you 100 miles an hour."
This team’s style reminds me of the ‘16 cup team, but may actually be better. They’ve played like that a majority of this season instead of figuring it out later. My only concern is losing steam late in the season. This is not an easy style of play to keep up. |
