Its relevant, lets keep arguing!
Thursday they will probably lose 6-1 so I have to enjoy this while I can. - mdw7413
That's what I'm saying. Get used to us because over the next 8 days I bet there will be a lot of intermingling between the two groups. |

If the Isles score 6 goals I'll happily put on a mask and snorkel and go deep diving into one of your GF's rolls to find you like $100 in loose change that got lost up there

Dude, that wasn't a penalty. Fast didn't even try to hit his stick, he was going for the puck. If it came down on the middle of his stick I have no issue with a call. If they start calling that, every player is going to drop their stick as soon as the blade gets touched, instant penalty. That was a good old battle infront of the net. - mdw7413
We get it. Last night was your stanley cup. Congrats!! |

If I'm being honest, I don't believe we're truly a surefire contender for the Cup. And that has nothing to do with last night's game.
We're a damn good hockey team that could absolutely go on a run, but I'm not putting us in the same category as the Bruins/Caps/Blues quite yet.
Do you think Bailey is the offensive piece this team needs? Or that clearing some cap room, picking up a few assets while he's still worth something, and bringing in some outside help might be a better course of action? Sincere question, but again...I'm talking about this as an offseason move, not one for now. - eichiefs9

6 goals maybe if Hank is playing. He is the one goalie they seem to be able to solve. |

No such thing as a sure fire contender for the Stanley Cup.
Beat every team you mentioned this year. People mentioned Tampa a lot last year. Not many mentioned the Blues.
I always say you need to add to what you have to improve. Let me add that Bailey is definitely the one top six or even top 9 player this team has that is cap friendly. With having to sign some pretty important pieces over the off season why would you trade it away?
I would say if Bailey is an asset offensively that can help a contender win a cup then our anemic offense can't afford to lose him.
Just my opinion, ready for the firing squad. |

I'm all for the call when someone slashes down on the middle of a guys stick while he is puck handling, but its a whole different ball game battling in the dirty areas. imo |

I'm not advocating they trade him away just for the hell of it, but if they can find something that makes sense then I'm just wondering if they don't explore the idea of moving 12.
If they could pick up some assets and use them to acquire someone like maybe Kevin Labanc who's 24, an RFA, and will probably ultimately sign for less than Bailey's cap hit then you're replacing Bailey with a younger, cheaper, and similarly-talented player before his age starts catching up with him and his value gets severely diminished.
OR
If they want to take a stab at big-game hunting again over the summer, they could trade him for futures and have $5M in cap space to put towards someone like Taylor Hall. There would still be work to be done with the cap to fit a big cap hit like Hall's will be, but $5M in free space would go a long way. Then they could just take the picks, draft to restock the pipeline and have more assets to move going forward if need be.
I'm not saying they need to do either one of those things, but things are about to get tight this summer and if they plan on making any additions that aren't already on the team or in the system then I'm just not sure where they're going to find the wiggle room to do it, even if the cap ceiling goes up the projected ~$4M or so. |

As I said no ones un tradable and if the right piece came around for Bailey then of course you do it but I just don't see Bailey getting us the return we need right now.
Now moving to your point of Signing a Hall type player and Cap space needs to be addressed then Bailey may be the piece easiest to move out, however I see a move like that done in the off season after a player like Hall is signed and know what space you need. You make the room after you need it imho. Not when you might need it. Just my opinion of course.
Again bailey is probably the most affordable top 6 we have right now and I see one of Ladd, Komorov or JB being moved with a sweeter or 2 of course whether we need the cap space or not.
We will see what the future brings.

Just moving Bailey in the offfseason for a #1 and making room for Wahlstrom will be worth it even if the Isles miss on a big FA like Hall. Isles are going to have to find out about players like Wahlstrom and Otto as soon as next year. |

Don't know if Bailey's getting you a #1?
Rather find out about them by dropping MK and or Komarov. Bailey is pretty versatile and plays PP, PK wing and or Center with his Cap hit being affordable.
I get the economics behind Bailey being replaced by an Otto and or Wally because of their ELC's but again I think Bailey's contract is probably the best value we have on the team moving forward.
Just my opinion. |

Just think moving Bailey gives the Isles more Cap room than the others and hopefully Wahlstrom is a top 6 player and Otto hopefully makes a nice 3rd line player. If Isles continue to fail with top FA's, they may just need to put Wahlstrom with Barzal and hope for some magic. |
