MDW always acts like that at the Coliseum. Most Rags fans do.

It even funnier listening to them discuss hockey

mdw can't make it to the Coliseum. He doesn't have a 4x4 vehicle capable of trudging through all the self-tanner and hair gel that encompasses the jersey shore

Islander fans, as a whole, are an embarrassment. The amount of people I see showing up to games in sweatpants is disgusting. Like the fine gentleman that saw Sydney going down the escalator after the first game back at the Coliseum that was pounding on the glass screaming "yes yes yes" at her like she was some sort of zoo animal. Overweight with a leather jacket and sweatpants on. I wanted to vomit.

Now I want to see your people in the wild. Maybe I'll go Thursday.

Me neither, finally decided I'm getting off this overpriced island. Those wheels are, very slowly, getting in motion.

We're considering Arizona but we'll be here a long time before that happens. Waiting for our families to die off. Also will likely be retirement age before leaving so in like 25 years.

I really don't ever go to NJ and have never been to the jersey shore, so don't take anything I say about that seriously. As far as Long Island....it's an interesting place

I wish it made sense to move now. We got into our house at a really good price and our jobs are too valuable to leave.

That’s a pretty high number imo. He’ll always have that he may fall off the wagon stigma so that’ll probably have an effect on his contract but some team may pay it. Wish we doubled the term on our rumored offer and called it a day.

Yeah my GF is an RN so she can pretty much work anywhere and I'm actually looking to get out of my current situation so it's a good time to move for us. We looked at CT for awhile but ultimately decided against it. Her parents live down in NC so we're kind focused on that for the moment. In poking around at some stuff online, down in Wilmington (which is admittedly not my top choice) we found an almost brand new house that was like 3500sq ft with an absolutely beautiful kitchen for about 400k and the taxes were like $1,500. A year.

I've seen some of AC/Jersey Shore and it's pretty cool too. Just avoid the lizard people.

There seems to be the misconception with the locals that long island is this amazing place to live that is second to none. It's absolutely false. It's cool sometimes but so many people here are straight scum based on how they drive alone.

Ugh, but that is exactly why if you have skilled jobs you should leave. 1,500 taxes is absurd. In a good way.

We vacationed in the Carolinas and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I can't stand AC, but that's mostly because I'm not really into gambling or clubs or terrible disease-ridden cities in disrepair.

I do like Long Island a lot, but lately I've just had enough of it. The summers are pretty much the only thing keeping me around. I think it's going to get a lot worse here before it gets better.

Depending on where you live. Long Island was an incredible place to live but the last ten years or so it has fallen off quite a bit imo but I think that’s a product of NY state as a whole turning into a (frank)ing cess pool. The congestion and political corruption have finally taken its toll to the point I don’t think there’s any coming back from it this time around. The new Nassau County exec is putting the final nail in the coffin for quite a few people I know.

I believe $1,500 is about what my parents pay a month in taxes for their house

The whole research area down in Raleigh/Durham is pretty attractive, especially for her. She's done pretty much all of her work strictly with HemOnc patients and worked for Weill Cornell Medical College doing research on trial chemo medicine for leukemia/lymphoma patients so that whole area with Duke/UNC/whatever else is probably going to be a home run for her. Plus there's hockey there so that's a bonus.

Yeah, AC was more interesting than anything, not a gambler either.

I've had my fill too. Every time we visit another state I could see myself living there instead. With the housing market how it is and these taxes likely only getting worse it makes no sense to put down roots right now. Maybe a mass exodus will normalize things.

Yeah I just think that LI is so old and a lot of the infrastructure is already falling apart and, like you said, since NYS is such a comical poophole...I'm not really sure where they're going to find the money to repair all that stuff without raising the already obnoxious taxes.

There are absolutely things I love about this place though, yeah. If I could find a way to live on the North Fork and have a job that didn't require me to commute 18hrs each way every day I'd stay but otherwise I'm probably getting up out dis female dog

Sounds like a plan for sure.

I bet you can go to Canes games for like 20 bucks.
