Nope can't say that I have. Lou Lamoriello either but next time you have beers with Casey and MM maybe you can have them invite Lou and then Me too.

I'm not disagreeing with your logic here, but I don't get the feeling that is going to happen with this coaching/mgmt staff. Lou's on record a bunch of times saying that he'd rather bring a young guy up too late than bring him up too early so I'm not really expecting to see them stick a young guy in the lineup down the stretch.

I think it's a lot more likely Lou goes shopping for a guy like Namestnikov for that spot than filling it with Koivula.

I think that's a great plan a. But if there's no deal to be made -- which, let's face it, is the case more often than not -- then what? Trotz has played checkers all season with the existing forwards to try and solve the 3C issue while keeping the other lines going, and I think the conclusion is they need another body in the 3C spot so Brassard and Bailey can fill needed roles on the wing. And if that doesn't come from a trade, it's gotta come from somewhere.

That said, yeah, I agree about Lou's M.O. when it comes to young players. Heck, I like that philosophy as a guideline. And maybe Koivula's not even a realistic option. I just think, given what they have, it couldn't hurt to give the kid some experience down the stretch and see.

I think plan a, b, and c would be, at a minimum, to find someone to inhabit that 3C position. Koivula can't be counted on in that role, it's too important. Wouldn't be fair to the team or to Otto, honestly. I think they'll exhaust every single option before relying on him.

So do you think theyโ€™ll throw Koivula on the third line right after the trade deadline or start him more regularly now and make it permanent after the deadline?

3rd line? They're going to have to have him slot in at the top of the lineup once they trade Barzal for a top-6 goal scoring forward with size for Tavares

Is that before or after they trade for Lehner?

Why would they trade for Lehner? They could get Poulin much cheaper.

They had a deal for Lehner, leaked, and Lou pulled it off the table.
